The SpaceWelcome to our home and the beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale!
Located just over 1 mile from the beach directly in the center of town, our location is ideal for anyone interested in touring the city, whether you do so by foot, car, or bicycle. We will gladly offer you our 2 bicycles for you to use for free as a way to go about the city. Fort Lauderdale is a great city for bicycling and we are very centrally located, being only a 5-10 minute bike ride to the beach and a 10-15 minute bike ride to downtown and Las Olas Blvd.
HOUSE: Our house sits in the safe, cozy neighborhood of Lake Ridge in Fort Lauderdale, within walking distance of a pool, a classic 1950's movie theater, 24/7 drug store, multiple grocery stores, banks, restaurants, bars, a French bakery, the Galleria Mall, post office, water taxi stop, and even a Hustler. Pretty much everything. You will sleep on a queen size bed in your own private room and you will have your own private bathroom. The entire house is super clean and modern and has all updated appliances. We are both laid back, down-to-earth, and quite well-travelled (40 countries and counting), so we understand a traveler's needs and are here for you whenever you need us.
AMENITIES: The house has everything you may need, including:
-Two bicycles with locks.
-Free soap and shampoo as well as a hairdryer. We will also provide you with freshly cleaned towels, linens, and wash cloths.
-Plenty of free parking if you have a car
-Washer and dryer
-Cable and free wireless internet (AT&T U-verse)
-Personalized maps and info on everywhere to go in Fort Lauderdale/Miami. I have lived here 24 years and know the city extremely well.
-For those from another country, I have an adapter/converter for your electrical appliances.
-If you are driving and don't want to get lost, I can provide you with a Garmin GPS
-Should you need to check your email, print boarding passes, or book your next night of accommodation, you can use our computer.
RULES TO NOTE:
-We do have a very nice kitchen, but you may only use it for drinks (water, beer, wine, coffee, tea, etc.) and not for food or hanging out in. We are surrounded by cafes, bakeries, and restaurants, and we seek guests who wish to explore our city's culture just as we do when we travel.
-Check-in is anytime after 2pm. We are flexible though, so should you want to arrive earlier, please let us know before booking so we can help accommodate you. Thank you.
SUMMARY: We consider ourselves very friendly and generous people who are cultured and laid back. Having been to 40 countries, we are used to interacting with all sorts of people and truly enjoy meeting people from other countries. We know how it feels to be a traveler and we understand what a traveler needs, so you can be assured that we will take good care of you and take care of all your needs. At this point, all we can do is welcome you to Fort Lauderdale. Guest AccessIt is a small house, and since we work from home during the day and are often gone in the evening, we prefer that you spend your time seeing and experiencing the city, just as we do when we travel. If you plan to sit on the couch to read a book or take your time in the morning with having a coffee and surfing the internet while sitting in the kitchen or outside on the patio, then our place is not for you, as you can do that anywhere else in the city and have a more enjoyable time doing so. Interaction with GuestsI'm available 24/7 to answer any question you might have or cater to any needs. So, I'm surely available when you need me, but will keep my distance to respect your space and privacy. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and has a very residential feel to it with quaint houses, almost all entirely built in the early 1950s. Being just a 10-15 minute bike ride to the beach, a 15 minute bike ride to downtown and Las Olas, and surrounded by every possible type of store, restaurant, or activity you would ever need or want, it makes for a great location and neighborhood. It is very safe, clean, and desirable to live in, evidenced in the median sale price of a home ($300,000+). I still consider it a middle class neighborhood, but it's surely affluent as well. Getting AroundSouth Florida is extremely vast and the public transportation, that of which exists, is notoriously poor. I highly recommend that you rent a car at the airport for about $25/day if you wish to tour outside of the Fort Lauderdale city center. Our location is at the city center midpoint, so bicycling is a good way, if not the best way, to get around should you only wish to tour the city center. Uber is another good option as the taxis here cost twice as much and have a really bad reputation. Other Things to NoteNOTE: Besides for beverages, we don't allow the use of the kitchen for food. Feel free to use any glassware for any beer, wine, water, coffee, etc. and feel free to keep such beverages in the fridge. We have never utilized a kitchen in our 2+ years of travel when you add it all up, as it defeats the purpose of traveling, so go out and explore the culture in our city and ask me where to find the best deals, as I know them all. It will be cheaper and more rewarding to go out than to go to a grocery store, I promise.
