The SpaceThis apartment is is in a gorgeous little valley. Hiking trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes are all quite close. It is a quiet and restful spot, but also within 35 minutes of Brattleboro, Londonderry, Stratton, Chester, and Mount Snow. Right now, the smaller bedroom with a twin bed is available for 45$ a night (sleeps two people). Guest AccessYou will have access to the whole apartment, except my bedroom. You can enjoy the lovely yard, hiking trails, and nearby waterfall (Hamilton Falls). Interaction with GuestsDuring the week, I wake up and am off to work @ 6:45 am, and I come back at 3:15. I have a busy schedule but am happy to hangout after work if time permits. The NeighborhoodThe West Townshend Country Store is a great local spot, with music and a farmer's market every Friday night. The closest grocery stores are about 20 minutes away. However, we are very close to Lowell Lake and Hamilton Falls. During the week, I wake up at about 6 am. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be ideal for you! Getting AroundThere is no public transit here. Unless you are a biking, you will 100% need a car. In the winter, the back end of my road is not plowed. You will need to loop around, so please ask for directions! Other Things to NoteThe twin bed in the guest room is sometimes a little small for taller people or larger couples. I have a futon which I can put on the floor if sharing the twin is not an option!

Bathroom shared with other guests. Guest AccessMi casa, su casa!! Make a meal in our kitchen; the back deck over looks our meadow, beaver pond and woods- its a great place to read, paint, cook out & relax. Do a load of laundry for $5- use our soap! Week day special: (Monday- Thursday night) $100 for 4 people Interaction with GuestsI love having guests and have very much enjoyed the mix of folks who have stayed with us. I work from home and am always busy with some project on the property, so you'll surely have privacy, but I'm around if you need anything. When I have friends over they stay on the other side of the house- we have fires out side and take trips, our guests are welcome to join!! The NeighborhoodWe are in the back woods of Vermont, so its pretty secluded around Shady Brook. Windham is VERY quiet. Take a 20 minute drive to Chester, Lundondary, Weston, Grafton- all scenic, charming small towns, great for shopping, festivals & sightseeing; 40 minutes or less to Straton, Okemo, Bromley & Magic mountain. Other Things to NoteMy best friend in the world lives here with us... His name is Hadley- a bashful, sweet, loving hound mix. I've never been able to train him to give people their space, so be prepared for some very close sitting and perhaps to share the couch with him. Your house trained, very well behaved pets are welcome as Hadley's guests for $10/ night.

Grafton is a very special place and West Corner is a very special historic home. We welcome you to enjoy our vacation home and the Grafton community. You will be hard pressed to find a more authentic Vermont village experience; where time appears to remain standstill, history is alive around every corner and where man's creation and nature's beauty are in perfect harmony. The village is home to some of the most beautiful examples of early new england architecture, and the entire village is in the National Register of Historic Places. Named one of the 10 most beautiful places in America by USA Today and one of 1000 Places To See Before You Die by leading Travel Guides. Built circa 1840, our home, called the West Corner, is nestled in the west end of the village center, providing unusual privacy for an in village home. It is very private, yet only a minute's walk to the main street, village park, Grafton Tavern, the general store and churches. The home is in superb condition, maintaining much of its original character yet providing all the comforts and conveniences you would expect from today's dwellings - thanks to the meticulous update undertaken last winter. A steeple high attached barn, which once served as the grain room and firewood storage, welcomes you into the home, and also serves as our mudroom and Gallery. The high ceiling and rustic barnwood interiors are classic farmhouse style. Next to the grain room is our richly appointed library cum bar, with floor to ceiling wood panels, comfortable leather seating and, just a great setting to relax in, day or night. The antique rumford fireplace is not for use (there is a bigger fireplace in the living room) Oversized wall to wall window lets plenty of sunlight to stream in, making it a great place to read. The huge living cum dining room offers a fireplace and plenty of space of relaxation, dining or for enjoying a good fire. Attached to the living room is the sunroom, with its own breakfast nook table for four and a seating area. This space is excellent for enjoying summers and is fully wire-meshed for protection from bugs. The home offers two bedrooms and two full baths, plus another half bath. The large master bedroom offers a beautiful sitting area by the window to enjoy a morning coffee or to simply relax on the rocking chair and watch the village life go by from a distance. The home provides a sophisticated and country elegant living atmosphere with plenty of formal and casual living spaces. While the home is designed for four people, an extra air mattress, which can be used in the master bedroom or in the den, allows for occasional additional guests. The fully renovated country kitchen comes complete with brand new appliances, all cookware, most basic ingredients and a refrigerator stocked with essentials in order to make your arrival comfortable. You will find a wide sele tion of teas, gourmet coffee, maple syrup, pancake mix, spices, condiments, etc etc. Silver flatware, antique knives, antique china and primitive cast iron dishes are carefully hand selected, completing an authentic country kitchen feel. It is fully equipped and we warn you that it will tempt you to go gourmet. Throughout the home you will find plenty of books, great vintage stereo systems painstakingly put together by us over the years, and hundreds of CDs, records and cassettes from our personal collection. You will be able to connect your ipod to this system as well.

This 1840's home was built as a single family home, then converted to a bed and breakfast before becoming a single family home once again. After many renovations, cosmetic upgrades, and material changes, the house maintains it's vintage New England charm while providing modern day amenities. With four bedrooms, including one with bunk beds, and four and a half baths, there is plenty of room to vacation with your family and friends. The first floor has two lovely family rooms, a dining room, and a renovated eat-in kitchen. Off the back of the kitchen are a three season room with a day bed and a screen porch with a dining table. There is a large mudroom and exercise area in the beautiful stone cellar. Other amenities include laundry on the first floor and a small office with a printer/fax/scanner on the network. The yard is spacious and provides additional room for entertaining. Enjoy the sound of the river from our screen house or gather around the fire pit. The house is a short walk to the Village of Grafton with the Grafton Inn and Restaurant, art galleries, general store, tennis courts, Mack's Place Eatery, museums and more.
