Upgraded over winter 2014 the cottage has a large, airy sitting room with woodburning stove and a super conservatory/dining room which leads onto the garden which has an arbour and plenty of seating for al fresco living. There's a well fitted kitchen and downstairs toilet. On the first floor is a double bedroom with ensuite shower and a twin also with ensuite shower. The twin room overlooks woodland while all other rooms have spectacular views over fields, a lake and the distant sea. There are loads of books, DVDs, CDs for guests to enjoy and toys and games for the kids. Although only 5 miles from ancient Rye, the cottage is in the Garden of England and the surrounding countryside is magnificent with plenty of historic sites and places of interest to visit. For the active there is fishing on the lake (see photos) and Rye Watersports (windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, sail boarding) only 5.5 miles away.Guest Access
Guests have access to the entire house but there are two padlocked 'owners' cupboards.Interaction with Guests
I'll be here to meet you on arrival and available by phone throughout your stay. I'll also give you lots of information about places to eat and visit, things to do and what's on at the time of your visit. The Neighborhood
Faraway Cottage is on the outskirts of Stone-in-Oxney, a tiny village between Rye (5 miles) in East Sussex and Tenterden (7 miles) in Kent. The cottage is in the middle of the countryside but the villages of Wittersham and Appledore, both about 2 miles, offer excellent pubs and a village shop. Rye's cobbled streets and medieval buildings is a must (lots of good eateries and interesting shops) while Tenterden offers smart shops and the Kent and Romney Marsh Steam Railway. Sissinghurst Castle, Bodiam Castle, Great Dixter, Hole Park and wonderful Camber Sands are all within a 30 minute drive.Getting Around
A car is recommended BUT, if you're into cycling, you can get the train to Rye (connects to London via Ashford International) and hire bikes from nearby Rye Cycle Hire which is a short walk from the station.Other Things to Note
There is off-road parking for two cars at the front of the house. You'll need a car as the nearest shop is about a mile away.
