The SpaceThis classic seaside hideaway has been a family beach house since the early seventies. Filled with happy holiday memories, it retains many of its original features including exposed beams, solid pine lined walls and groovy light fittings. The versatile design can comfortably sleep 8 with queen beds in each of the 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 sets of bunks in the downstairs “chill out zone", yet is cosy enough for a couple to enjoy a weekend by the seaside. Circa72 is fully fenced and dog friendly. We do however, limit to a maximum of 2 dogs per booking. Guest AccessCirca 72 has the character befitting its age, and has also recently been lovingly refreshed. With new carpet, flooring and furniture as well as a few mod cons thrown in, such as Nespresso coffee machine, DVD player, Wii console and an iPod dock, it has all you need. Please note there is no wifi or broadband internet access allowing you more opportunity to reconnect with that old fashioned holiday feeling. It also has good heating and air conditioning. This property has been a holiday home for many years and does show some signs of wear and tear, some marks on walls etc tell a story of fun times. However, I can assure you it is clean. If you are after a pristine modern house with Wi-Fi, dishwasher, lock up garage, then perhaps Circa 72 is not for you. I would also like to point out that we have a dog that is in the house from time to time as this may be a problem if some members of your group have dog allergies. Interaction with GuestsI like to connect with my guests prior to their stay via text, email and voice call. I will not be on the premises during your stay but am easily contacted via the above methods and I do have a caretaker who lives nearby, in case of emergency. The NeighborhoodThen there's the location, one street back from the shore where the inlet joins the surf beach and an energising walk to the shops and cafes of Inverloch. Your options are endless be it long beach strolls, fishing, paddling, surfing, exploring nearby landmarks such as Wilson's Prom and Philip Island… or just curling up with a good book and listening to the waves from the huge balcony. At just over 90 mins from Melbourne, there's nothing to stop you from heading down to Circa72, Inverloch and making your own happy memories Getting AroundThere is bus transport from Melbourne to Inverloch, however, it is recommended that you have a car to be able explore all that the region has to offer. The SpaceOlives in the grass is built according to Fung shui principles, which translates in an amazingly peaceful feeling. The kitchen is modern and has all features needed, including Oven, Microwave, Gas stove, dishwasher etc. The living room is divided in open plan sections, ideal for reading, dining or enjoying a movie (TV and DVD player) The master bedroom has a queen bed and en-suite, bedroom 2 has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has 2 bunkbeds, and sleeps 4. ** The bathrooms are modern and luxurious. The house is heated by split system heating, and cooled by the indoor garden with pond, and through the smart design of the house. The barbecue area is shielded against the coastal breeze. In the garage you can store your fishing gear, or park the boat safely. (by request) Or use it for surfboards and wetsuits, use the (childrens-) bikes to ride the trails to beach and river, the paddock for your horse or pony, or the extensive lawn to play. Or don't. Just watch the olives grow. Look at the sunsets. Listen to the birds and look at the cows come home from the terrace while you are reading a book. Guest AccessGuests have access to the whole house for their sole use,( three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and laundry bar some locked cupboards for the use of the owner or the cleaner), the garage and the large garden including a paddock for horses, if agreed upon. The large shed and the spa room is not for guest use, unless discussed and approved in advance. Sadly our house is not available for party groups, as Bass coast council has a no party policy and can loose our license if signs of a party are apparent. Interaction with GuestsHosts do not live close by, however, if you have any questions, our house keepers (who do live close) can help out- and you can always contact us by phone! The NeighborhoodDalyston is beautiful undulating country with fields and dunes in abundance. We are close to Williamsons beach, a little further from Inverloch and Cape Patersons' wind-, surf, and children safe beaches - 15 minutes from Phillip Island, and 5 minutes from Archies creek's and Kilcunda's fine dining, Olives in the grass is a place to relax and enjoy. Positioned 300 meters from the Wonthaggi-Kilcunda trail, and the new nature reserve behind the dunes, it is ideal to enjoy walks, bike-rides, or ride your horse. (Small treed paddock with water available on request). The railtrail leads from Wonthaggi via the mouth of Powlett river and Kilcunda to the road to Phillip Island. Olives in the grass is a place to be, or come home to. Close by are Wonthaggi , with its shops and coal-mine. (Our kids love to ride the traffic-free trail there and get an ice-cream), endless beaches that are good for surfing waves or wind, or paddle with the kids, or fish, visit the dinosaur fossil site, or just be the only one, even on busy days... Along the coast there are many beautiful walks - and the bunurong coastal drive offers amazing views. Inverloch and Wonthaggi have various shops for fun or all your needs, and Phillip Island, which is only 15 minutes away and offers a variety of activities. Further away (but not too far) is Wilsons promontory, great for walks and nature experience. There is a variety of restaurants in Dalyston (try the OZON hotel (!)), Inverloch and Wonthaggi, Kilcunda has the hotel and general store where we love to have lunch, or drive to Phillip island where the coastal towns and wineries offer diverse hospitality. Getting AroundHaving your own car or rented car is the best way to get to our house. Once arrived you can cycle around- or go for a walk. There are bikes for your use in the garage, that get regularly serviced, but as we do not live on site, we can not guarantee they are always in good order. If cycling is the aim of your holiday, it might be better to bring your own or rent them! Other Things to NoteSadly we cannot accommodate for dogs and cats due to fencing and our neighbours. We do have a paddock available for a horse or pony- and are close to riding trail and pony club. Linen is not included as most people are happy to bring it themselves. But would you love your beds made, let us know- for an extra charge this is no problem!
