The SpaceGuest room in my 2 bedroom home in West Marin. Very close to private meditation center, Spirit Rock. The room includes a double bed, an adjoining spacious deck & hot tub, a private bathroom and beautiful views. The kitchen is available for your use as needed. Hiking and bike trails are very nearby, as well as the coast only 30 minutes away; and San Francisco under an hour. This is a wonderful setting in the redwoods for your private retreat, vacation get away, or just a stop on the way. Also available for long term stays. Interaction with GuestsI interact with my guests as needed to accommodate their needs and just enough so that we may get to know one another and feel comfortable. I have treasured meeting my guests and found it to be a lovely balance for meeting new people. The NeighborhoodI love living in the trees and having a view of open space; a feeling of being remote, yet only minutes away from the highway and then just short distances to the east or west. Getting AroundPublic transportation is limited, however it is doable. In this area it is best to have your own car. Other Things to NoteMarin County requires a 10% Transit Occupancy Tax which is already included in this price!

The SpaceMy place is a quiet, private, bright and nourishing getaway, located in Woodacre CA about 14 miles Northwest of SF. The nine sky lights make it bright, the pellet stove keeps it warm in winter, and the garden and birds bring a feeling of being in a wildlife sanctuary. The extra sleeping loft in the kitchen has a 6 foot X 6 foot skylight above to watch the night sky. Two people can comfortably stay here. Some watering of plants required and if incline (or inspired) keeping wild birds fed! If you want or need a getaway with close proximity to the best city in the world - Woodacre is the place. Treat yourself. Guest AccessI only rent out my place when I'm out of town so you will have the entire place to yourself. Interaction with Guestszero The NeighborhoodWoodacre doesn't deliver mail and cell reception is minimal at the house. It is probably the best place to live in Marin County, which was just voted the best county to live in California!! There is easy access to everything people boast about - open space, redwoods, bike trails, the coast, and still close enough to the city (or ferries) to enjoy the cool urban vibe. Getting AroundThere is a West Marin Stagecoach to go East or West, but only runs about 5 times/day. The hub of mass transit is in San Rafael for buses and airporters, Larkspur (or Sausalito) for ferries. Both about 10 miles away. Best to have a car and certainly a bike is great.

The SpaceThis is a pool house on a beautiful 10 acre property with expansive views of the Lucas Valley and Skywalker Ranch. We live in the main house and have two children ages 5 and 2 1/2. There are goats, chickens and a dog that live on the property. The pool house is a simple structure with a full size bed (queen air mattress also available by request), a small sitting area, a private bath and a mini kitchen with sink, toaster oven and mini fridge. The pool house is clean but we do store some small items in it, so it is not entirely clutter free. Caveat: This is a rural location and a house on a farm, not a hotel. All of the following have happened during the 6 years we have lived in the main house: loss of power, loss of water, ants, cluster flies. In fact, if you are staying anywhere in West Marin in September or October you can be pretty much guaranteed some cluster flies. We are very accommodating and will refund your money if anything out of the ordinary happens during your stay (as well as let you stay of course), but if you are the kind of person who needs everything to be perfect this may not be the listing for you. One of the only things we don't allow in our house is negativity and we only want guests who will take the same attitude if anything goes wrong. Guest AccessGuest will have access to the grounds. Guests will be allowed to use the pool only by arranging prior to their visit. Guests will also be able to use the kitchen in the main house between 9 am and 6 pm. Check-in is at 4 PM and Check-out is at 10 am (earlier check-in and later check-out must be arranged in advance and is subject to our schedules and whether we have other guests coming). Interaction with GuestsThere is generally someone around the main house and we are available to answer questions or assist with anything you need. The NeighborhoodNicasio is a rural community in central Marin. Most of the town is farmland and the center of town consists of a post office, a general store and a restaurant. The house is about 20 minutes from Fairfax and 20 minutes from San Rafael. Getting AroundNo public transportation. Having a car is a must. Other Things to NoteChildren (5 and 2 1/2) live on this property and will be playing in the yard. As a result kids toys are often lying around. If you have kids (or are young at heart) please feel free to play with anything you see. If you don't have kids, please understand that sometimes there will be a few miniature tractors in your view of the wonderful Lucas Valley. It is also important to note that there is no TV in the pool house and high speed internet is not available in our location. Wireless devices (phones, internet hot-spots) work well and this is what we use for our personal internet.

The SpaceThe house is a craftsman, custom-architected, rustic-modern design, with two full walls of windows and lots of deck space. There's a master bedroom with a queen bed, a kid's room with bunk beds, a cottage bedroom with a queen bed, and a comfortable fold-down couch in the living room. Views abound, and there are many nice places to spend time outdoors on the property. The house stays nicely cool on hot days. Guest AccessThere's a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom house, with 1-bedroom/1-bath/kitchenette cottage attached via the deck. Guest will have access to everything except the lower level of the cottage, which is our storage area. Interaction with GuestsWe may or may not have a property caretaker staying in the cottage - that's negotiable at the time of reservation. The price would be lower if there is a caretaker on premise during your stay, as the cottage would not be included as available space. The NeighborhoodOur house is at the top of Woodacre, on a private, rural acre, overlooking the San Geronimo Valley. There's a trailhead for one of the best hiking trails in Marin just across the road, which allows access to White's Hill, a rare dwarf-cypress forest, Kent Lake, and all the public lands of the Mount Tam area. You could even hike all the way to Stinson Beach or Mill Valley, only having to cross one or two roads. There's also a community pool and recreation center just a couple minutes down the hill. It's also worth mentioning that we're in one of the nicest weather zones in the Bay Area (least foggy and not too hot). Usual summer weather patterns are: while it's in the upper 50s, foggy, and windy (ie cold!) in Sausalito, Mill Valley, and San Francisco - and in the scorching, upper 90s in Walnut Creek and everywhere East - it's usually sunny, in the upper 70s, with just a gentle breeze here. Getting AroundIt feels like we're out in the wilderness here, but we're actually close to the some of the best of what the Bay Area has to offer: 5 minutes from Spirit Rock Meditation Center, 10 minutes from Fairfax (where Good Earth is, the best health food store in the Bay Area), 20 minutes from Point Reyes Station, 40 minutes from beaches (Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Point Reyes National Seashore), 40 minutes from San Francisco. Our place is a great base for world-class hiking, road biking and mountain biking. Other Things to NoteThe last eighth-mile of our road, leading to the driveway, is a county, dirt road that's a bit rough in places, but 2-wheel-drive passenger cars do fine on it. All the other roads in the area are paved. Also, note that this is our primary residence, so anytime we book it, we'll be taking a working vacation somewhere (we both telecommute). Thus, to make it worth it to us, we prefer longer stays, and will generally require a 5-day minimum. The only exceptions will be if we're already planning to be out of town.

At the bottom of my hill is entrance to Willis Evans Canyon, part of the Gary Giacomini Open space Preserve for biking, hiking and horseback riding. About 5 miles east is Fairfax, which has multiple shops and restaurants. I recommend Fradazilio's for excellent Italian or wild local salmon at reasonable price, or for elegant dining in the redwoods, the Deer Park restaurant is the best in Fairfax. Fairfax 's movie house has the awarded best independent multi screen movie house in the USA. About 12 miles west of the property (17-min drive) is Pt. Reyes Station, which has many restaurants, bookstore, shops, and Cowgirl Creamery, where they make among the world's best organic cheese. About Marin County (especially for foreign visitors) Located immediately north of the Golden Gate Bridge, which connects San Francisco to Marin, you enter a completely different world. Marin is a natural wonderland. Points of interest: Sausalito - bohemian history, spectacular views of San Francisco, touristy restaurants and shops Tiburon- from the boutique downtown great views of the bay and San Francisco. Mill Valley - go to the downtown square and have a latte. Just enjoy watching the people. Muir Woods - experience the giant redwoods. Also nearby is Mt. Tamalpais, the highest point in Marin. Alpine Lake - wonderful road trip to this lake ; watch for the many bicyclists. You can hike along and up the 30 or so waterfalls that flow into this lake. Although you aren't that far from San Francisco you're in a total mountainous wilderness and you feel 1000 miles away. Marin county also has the George Lucas (Star Wars creator) estate along Lucas Valley Drive. West Marin has many organic dairy and horse ranches, and you can see cows grazing the hills by the roads here. Have an organic grass fed steak. Pt. Reyes Station is a popular destination for restaurants, bookstore, and to visit Cowgirl Creamery. From there go to the Pt. Reyes National Seashore and the lighthouse. If you like fresh oysters head north to Hog Island Oyster by Marshall on Tomales Bay along highway 1. . Enjoy at their picnic area! Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing. Nice shops and restaurants. Work out at 24-hr Fitness. Have organic lunch at Rustic Bakery or an organic grass fed burger or steak at Bel Campo Meat Co. From here you can take a scenic ferry trip right to the Ferry Building on Market Street in San Francisco's Embarcadero. For shopping centers- in Corte Madera there is the Village and the Town Center. One (Village)is on the east side of freeway 101 and the other (Town Center)is on the west side. Village has a Nordstrom Dept. Store with a excellent restaurant, Blue Stove, offering small plates on the second floor. Rancho Nicasio - an old style lodge type country restaurant and bar. Sometimes live entertainment and dancing. Their bar menu has excellent nachos. 5 miles north of the house on scenic Nicasio road. Residents of Marin enjoy excellent schools (families with kids move here for the public schools), people in Marin live longer than anywhere in the USA, crime rates are extremely low, and Marin county has the highest per capita income of any county in California and among the highest in the US. Organic food is very popular in Marin. Many restaurants offer mostly or entirely organic foods. Try the Good Earth grocery store in Fairfax-- all organic foods (and I have to say expensive) My favorite restaurant: Buckeye Roadhouse. Best chicken wings in bar area. Cocktails excellent. Love their smoked beef brisket with mashed potatoes. Excellent desserts too! 15 Shoreline Hwy, Mill Valley. Right by 101 freeway - Stinson Beach exit. Getting AroundThere is bus service (West Marin Stagecoach) a quarter of a mile from the house but I recommend car travel. The house is about 5. 5 miles west of downtown Fairfax and 12 miles east of Pt Reyes Station. If you wanted to, you could actually walk to Woodacre Country Mart and Deli or to Two Birds restaurant or the San Geronimo Golf course and club house or The Spirit Rock Buddhist center. Other Things to NoteDrip coffee maker and ground coffee in room. If you are not coffee drinkers tell me your preference and I'll try to accommodate. I usually also have orange juice and cream in the fridge. Guest house is like new built 2014 ; it has one queen bed and a small sofa, also cushion chair, and chair and desk. If you have a third person, the place is roomy enough but there is no extra bed -- they can sleep on the sofa or perhaps bring a sleeping bag and put it on the thick shag area rug. If the sofa or sleeping bag is ok with you, then it's ok with me for a third person. I'll allow two kids and two adults for price of three. You can see the sofa in the pictures. There are extra blankets, pillow and sheets. Note: after each guest checks out, the sheets are ALWAYS washed with Tide detergent as well as Oxy Clean chlorine-free bleach alternative. You can check in or out pretty much anytime UNLESS your reservation is affected by someone who was there the night before or a guest is coming the day that you leave... That could affect your check in or out, but check in would not be later than 1 pm in this situation. (You could come at 1 or if you want, later)

The SpaceOur home is a little country-funky, yet has all the modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable as can be. There is a wood-burning stove and ceiling fan in the upstairs open floor plan living room, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, and has a microwave, dishwasher, propane stove/oven and full-sized refrigerator/freezer. Although we are vegetarian and prefer the cooking done in the kitchen to be so, please feel free to cook as you like on the outdoor grill (and of course store what you need in the fridge). We have hi-speed internet, but no cable or TV. Your living/sleeping room has many windows, a piano and ceiling fan and is located downstairs along with your private bath. The bed is a full-size futon and we are happy to set up a separate full-size real mattress (no box spring) should you and your guest prefer separate beds. Your bath has both a shower and tub (and washer/dryer). Though our home has 4 bedrooms plus a loft in total, our septic doesn't allow for large groups and while we will be home during your stay, we may or may not be using the two non-Airbnb bedrooms downstairs. Guest AccessYou will have use of the kitchen/dining/living room upper floor and extra large front yard, with outdoor seating and dining, grill and garden. You may store bikes/gear in 1/2 of the garage. Parking is for one car in the space to the left of the garage. Please do not use back deck, as it is private. Interaction with GuestsThe 3 of us (one adult and two relatively quiet 11-year-olds) will be here and are happy to be as social or private as suits you! There is one other Airbnb guest room upstairs that may be occupied and could possibly share the kitchen as well. The NeighborhoodThe beautiful West Marin small community of Woodacre is surrounded by redwoods and other trees. We have a deli/juice bar and Post Office. Hiking and biking in all directions! Pt. Reyes, Tomales Bay and area beaches all nearby. Only 7 miles to funky Fairfax with its lively music scene, restaurants, grocery and shops. Spirit Rock Meditation Center is just across Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Though we are tucked away in the serene San Geronimo Valley, it only takes 30 minutes to reach the Golden Gate Bridge. Getting AroundThe West Marin Stage stops in Woodacre, and Uber and other taxi services are available. Walking and biking tend to be the preferred methods of getting around the beautiful San Geronimo Valley! Other Things to NoteWe ask that guests respect a 10pm quiet time. We do have a super-friendly French Bulldog, but he doesn't go downstairs, sleeps with us and typically isn't ever home alone. There are also 8 chickens (no roosters) and neighbor's two cats on the property, so even though we love animals, unfortunately can't allow pets. Cell reception can be spotty up here. We have an ATT microcell, should they be your carrier... or Wifi calling works. There is a landline as well. We are on a septic system, so nothing but TP flushed please.

The SpaceThis is a cozy 900 sq ft house situated in the hills of Woodacre. There are beautiful views and sunsets to be enjoyed through the many windows, and from the deck. A nice blend of sun and shade drape the grounds. The house stays pleasantly cool during summer months from surrounding tree shade, and offers plenty of sun in the yard for a seasonal garden. Each room has a heater for cooler times, and a fireplace in the great room. The whole house was recently and lovingly remodeled, including walls, insulation, floors and ceiling. Our own family of 2 adults and 2 children come here to find pleasure and respite, and quite comfortably. There are two bedrooms. One holds a full size bed, and the other offers a bunk bed with lower futon pull out, full size. 'Second Floor' loft is used as a mini office and getaway studio. This is a great place for a book and tea, and the kids enjoy playing games up there! The loft is accessed by fixed stairs, and a short crawl to the more open, and standing height of 6 foot loft area. The 'water closet' is separate from the bathtub and sink room. Kitchen is set up for people who like to cook. Sorry, no microwave or television. WiFi available to stream videos or connect otherwise. Bring your own computer. Enjoy the yard, which is home to Oak Trees and four mature Douglas Firs. The rustling of nature by night, and a fresh breath of air amidst the trees in the morning is always a reward. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire property and house. Not the shed. Interaction with GuestsWe are available as needed via phone, text or email! The NeighborhoodThis is a neighborhood setting upon the hillside. There are no street lights, and it is quiet as nature at night. The houses are spaced apart enough to offer peace and privacy, and each one is unique. This area is known for highly regarded, and seemingly endless bike trails. If driving, one can reach Fairfax in about 10 minutes, and Spirit Rock in 5. Samuel P. Taylor Park is 10 minutes, and 10 more offers the gateway of 80,000 acre Point Reyes National Seashore. Other Things to NoteMust be comfortable with nature, as wildlife is present.
