The SpaceHave you ever dreamed of reducing your utility bills, building a sustainable residence, or even going entirely off of the grid? This cabin functions in harmony with its environment, using earth-friendly systems to eliminate excessive consumption of resources or the production of wastes. We are happy to share our knowledge of how to do simple, low-tech, inexpensive DIY projects to harness the renewable energies of the earth and reduce your ecological footprint. All that being said, we value our creature comforts and believe that being ecological does not mean giving anything up. The full-sized mattress is delicious memory foam for an excellent night's sleep. The cabin has comfortable nooks for reading and reflecting, a mini kitchen (small fridge with ice, double electric hot plate, coffee grinder, coffee machine, blender, and toaster oven), a and is furnished with an eclectic mix of gorgeous rustic antique furniture. The cabin is decorated with original art, cultural artifacts, and textiles from around the world. Our location is an incredibly peaceful natural oasis. The cabin has views from its windows and the front porch of the creek, forest, and gardens. Sleep to the sounds of the babbling creek, crickets, and wild birds. Step out onto the front porch and breath in fresh air, enjoy the flowers, and an incredible view of the creek. Walk right down off the porch down the bank of the creek and take a cool refreshing dip in our swimming hole, not ten yards from the cabin. There is an outdoor grill, outdoor seating and a campfire ring. Bring your own wood for outdoor fires or buy wood from us, $10 per bundle. Wood is provided for indoor fire to keep the place warm inside during cool weather. The SpacePlease read absolutely everything on this listing including reviews, we want to make sure that we have a good match for you. This is my family home I am sharing. Here we champion the up-cycled life. Old made new- reuse, reappropriate, redefine, restructure, repurpose, rethink. Our mission is to teach people to look outside the box for ideas, lifestyles and ways of living. Very few things in this home are being used for their original purpose. Repurposing is a very important part of what we're doing here. Your kind recommendations are always appreciated. You may see that I have worked hard to achieve Super Host status on my other listings. Our home is people and children friendly and is built with sustainability in mind. I will not give you a bad review just because you left the place a bit less clean or tidy then you found it. You are on vacation after all. There may be some traffic noise as there is a state road nearby. If you are looking for a creative cozy home filled and built with lots of Love and Heart this is the place for you . This 100+ yr old, rustic house is artfully decorated with original paintings and cultural artifacts. Set on an idyllic property bordering the world-renown trout stream Pine Creek, La Luna Master room is a quiet rural getaway to relax, unwind, and escape the daily bustle and din of the cities and technology. The restoration process updated the home to be a low-impact, ecologically friendly building featuring high R-value insulation, geothermal ventilation, solar hot water system, reminding us to conserve resources, and solar augmented lighting. This idyllic getaway has a romantic balance between simple pleasures and beautiful surroundings. The master bedroom has a king-sized re-purposed bed frame, new pillow top mattress, master bathroom with claw-foot bathtub, BYOB bar (with mini fridge, French press, coffee maker, and water boiler for tea) and beautiful large roof deck with outdoor living room and breakfast nook with a view of Pine Creek. The second bedroom, the Rebecca Room, will be available for bookings with four people. If you are less than four people but wish to use both bedrooms, just let us know and book with four anyway. The Rebecca Room is in the simple, rustic, lovely style of the local Nebraskan Amish with hand-made quilts, antique furnishings, and exposed original wooden structure. It has a double bed and daybed. The Veranda is surrounded by gardens and lawn, paved in large flagstones and brick and is sheltered by the canopy of a gorgeous old Catalpa tree and bordered by grapevines. This Creek belongs to everyone - expect to share with fishermen, children, other guests, the fish and other diverse wildlife. Tucked on the edge of the village of Woodward, this house is walking distance from a post office and yet borders forest and stream and feels quite secluded and private. White-tailed deer, rabbits, trout, and many species of wild birds including woodpeckers (pileated, red-bellied, downy, and hairy), herons, and hummingbirds are frequently spotted on and from the premises. If you look closely you may find a spider or two and perhaps the web it lives in. Feel free to usher them outside. The nostalgic aroma of wooden timbers, antique furniture and old books mingles with the lovely scent of seasonal flowers, fruits and vegetables, and the breeze carries the scents and smells of the nearby stream and it's teeming naturalesa . Guest statement "this is what an old house should smell like." These are the smells of a well-loved home and a natural environment. Guest AccessRenting this property gives you access to the downstairs kitchen, dining & bathroom, veranda and outdoor areas with fireplace, and the upstairs Luna Master suite with bathroom and rooftop deck. You will not have access to every room in the house (some rooms are currently for storage). There may be other renters in a nearby cabin that is on the same property, in which case the swimming hole will be shared. Interaction with GuestsWe will usually personally check you in and give you a tour when you arrive and will usually be nearby during your stay if something arises. Otherwise, the place is all yours, enjoy! There is a rural road nearby and you will hear the occasional ambient noise of traffic. You will feel like you are in a tree house on the roof deck as you are looking directly into the lovely and lively Pine Creek, renowned as one of the best trout fishing streams in the northeastern U.S. The nearby town of Millheim features a brewpub, coffee shop, art gallery, wine shop, pizza place and grocery store. You are welcome to bring your own campfire wood or purchase it from us (request in advance) for $10 per bundle (bundles are roughly two cubic feet).
