A little House History: Hezikiah House – Constructed 1874 This House was built by Solomon Wilton who was the second settler to Woody Point in 1858. He was active in building the community and was involved in the construction of its first church. This house is a standard “founding” house of the 18th century British tradition. Hezikiah Wilton, after whom the house is named, was Solomon’s youngest son. The house was purchased by our family in 1971 and designated a Heritage Structure in 1997. This home has been set up as our part time summer residence for many years. It is filled with family heirlooms, history and many happy memories. Please forgive it’s many quirks as it is an old house. You will find some of our personal items about the house, please feel free to move them if they are in your way or of interest, but please put them back where you find them. Please review the House rules and Manuel. For more information please leave me a message and I'll get right back to you.

My house is located on the road to the incredible Tablelands, one reason for Gros Morne being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fantastic view of Gros Morne mountain and Bonne Bay, this property is nearby to the Discovery Centre of Gros Morne National Park. Great walking and hiking, easy to challenging. Also great area for biking and kayaking. It's a 10 minute walk down the hill to Woody Point (www.woodypoint.ca), which is a registered Heritage community, where there are places to eat and shop. Woody Point has wonderful artists and excellent craft shops. From this house you can walk the gorgeous community trail behind Woody Point, or link up to the Discovery Centre and it's trail to Partridgeberry Hill. Tablelands and Green Gardens Trails are just a 5-10 minute drive away. This house is technically in the town of Woody Point, Bonne Bay and yet when you're there you're in a world of your own. 3 bedrooms. No inside smoking. On well and septic so water-awareness is requested. Preferring weekly rentals, but willing to consider half-weeks. Some comments from my guest book for 2014: “As we sit one last time, on your deck breathing and gazing upon the magical waters and mountains, all that I can think of saying – is thank-you. Thank-you for sharing your home and giving us a glimpse into your wonderful corner of this majestic land” “This is a perfect place to stay. We're going to miss our 'breakfasts with a view'!” Weekly rentals preferred, but would consider part-week. In the heart of Gros Morne National Park, the town of Woody Point is a designated heritage community and the old capital of Bonne Bay, which is a beautiful bay and also the name refers to the collective of communities around the bay. Bonne Bay was given its name by Captain Cook, who sailed and charted these waters. It truly is a beautiful bay... it's been said to be the most beautiful bay in the world. This area includes incredible geological features and beautiful scenery. Great hiking all around on the national park trails. Kayaking on Bonne Bay and other nearby areas. This is a wonderful place to relax and listen to the bird songs, or to go climbing or exploring. Summer highlights include the famous Writers at Woody Point festival (writersatwoodypoint.com) in August and the Bonne Bay Regatta in late July. This stately, two storey merchant's house was built a century ago, 1910. It's architecture is somewhat different than many of the old houses that you might find situated along the coastline of many of our outport communities. The architecture reflects the turn of the century lifestyle for a well-to-do merchant in the early 1900s. This house illustrates distinctive examples of "vernacular" architecture that is often a reflection of functional and structural needs rather than stylistic aims. It has a unique style with a large 'piazza', along with large 'bay windows' on the front of the house. It also has a large patio extending from the main floor. It has two large bedrooms with a queen size bed in each room - located on front of house with large bay windows. The third bedroom has one double size bed. There is a bathroom on the upper floor where the bedrooms are located. The kitchen if fully equipped, dining room is more of a display area of Grandmother's things. There is a fairly large living room & kitchen. Our accommodations in Gros Morne await you! Stan, Jenny & Kendra welcome you to Woody Point, one of the most picturesque areas of Gros Morne National Park. We are located on the south side of Gros Morne, a UNESCO HERITAGE SITE, with easy access to many spectacular hiking trails. Grandmother's House is a spacious dwelling that displays a nostalgic mood with its special architecture. It is becoming a favorite place to stay in Gros Morne. Our patio offers you a million dollar view of Bonne Bay and Gros Morne Mountain. This is the perfect place to stage your vacation when exploring Gros Morne.
