The SpaceSt Gabriel's is a Victorian House with a varied history. It was once a grand property boasting butlers and house maids. The room was once the scullery of the house and has been sympathetically renovated to create a bright, secluded space with views over the gardens. You will often see deer, muntjac, rabbits, pheasants, green woodpeckers and if you're lucky barn owls and herons. We are also very fortunate not to have much light pollution, so on a clear night the stars are breathtaking! The bathroom/dressing room is spacious with shower and dressing table. The private toilet is separate being located in the hallway. There is also a dining area with seating for four and tea/coffee making facilities and fridge . Fresh pastries served in your room for breakfast. Guest AccessYou will have your own entry and secure parking. Your front door leads into a hallway with door to toilet and door to the room with shower/dressing room. This area is completely separate from the rest of the house. Interaction with GuestsPlease feel free to speak to us about anything. We are generally home and available for queries. The NeighborhoodWe are within walking distance of Highclere Castle aka 'Downton Abbey'. We are close to lots of walking -the Wayfarers Way being a few minutes away. We also have two Saxon forts offering panoramic views of the area. There is a pub within walking distance. The famous Chalk Horse, The Test valley, Winchester, Portsmouth, Oxford and Reading are all within easy reach. Getting AroundWe are well placed for access to the A34 and M4 junction 13. From Newbury you can get the train to London Paddington in under an hour. We live in a fairly rural area, so a car is essential. Heathrow is about an hour away by car. Other Things to NoteThere is currently some building work going on next door. The room faces the back of the house so it should not be an issue. We are a large and busy family, so don't be alarmed to see children in the garden or playing outside! We have a very large garden so there is no reason for privacy to be an issue.
