The SpaceWe welcome you with an afternoon snack that can be fresh cookies, fresh fruit, cheese and savory tidbits. In the evening, enjoy a glass of sherry in the parlor or on the porch. Guest AccessYou have access to our communal parlor, six covered porches, pool patio, creek side deck, trout stream, lawn games, a fire pit and over 100 acres of pine forest. For outings we keep insulated coolers and camp chairs on hand. Interaction with GuestsWe are always around to greet you and usually turn in around 10pm in order to get up and make a wonderful breakfast. Our day starts at 7am and we are around through breakfast cleanup and checkout at 11am. Some afternoons, we leave to run errands, but are back for arrivals. We love to host evening gatherings around the campfire or by the pool. Patrick enjoys noodling on the guitar and we both love to interact with guests, hear about their lives, and create an informal relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable. The NeighborhoodThe Mountain Rose Inn is in an amazingly beautiful area of Southwest Virginia. The property is fortunate to have Rock Castle Creek running through the grounds and guests have access to 100 acres of pine forest. Getting AroundPublic transport is not an option in our area. Guests needing shuttles and rides need to be advised that these services simply do not exist in these parts. Your own vehicle is a must. Other Things to NoteSome guests are surprised by our off-the-beaten path location. While not far from all of the charms of the area, we are located on a windy mountain road that is great fun for some and stressful for others. We advise arriving before dark and bringing a small cooler with an evening meal or snacks. We can suggest great places to stop to grab things on your way here.

The SpacePrivacy on a 290 acre mountain top off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Amazing views, giant fireplace, big windows, 2nd floor balcony, hammock and rope swing, hiking trails on the property and incredible stargazing at night with almost no light interference. The house was built by our grandparents in the early 1970's and some of the decor is original (think red carpet on the second floor and mustard colored kitchen counters). This house has a lot of personality! There is a well stocked kitchen with a large refrigerator, electric stove/oven, new dishwasher, microwave, tableware, utensils and gadgets. You also have a full size washer and dryer located on the first floor. There is no wifi or cable tv, but there is a vcr/dvd player with a good selection of movies for all ages. The tv also gets a few local channels. Wifi access is available in town(15 min drive). There are 4 bedrooms with 1 downstairs and 3 up. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed that is built into the wall, as well as a sitting area. The upstairs bedrooms have a queen bed, an antique full size four poster bed, and two twin beds. A full size crib and a pack and play are available as well. The attic is finished and provides a fun additional play and sleeping space. We are a pet friendly family and welcome your well behaved dogs to the house. We do ask that all pups stay on the first floor and not on the carpeted second floor. A pet gate for the bottom of the stairs will be provided. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Guest AccessThe entire house and grounds Interaction with GuestsThe hosts will be available to answer any questions or help with anything needed. The NeighborhoodThe 290 acre property is nice and secluded and there is plenty to do up here, from taking it easy, to tackling the hiking trails. If you'd like to explore the local area, there are some great options: Wineries, the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking, tubing. The fun, small town of Floyd is a 15 minute drive and has grocery stores, a Saturday farmer's market, art galleries, restaurants, shopping, and the Friday Night Jamboree. Getting AroundA car is necessary to get around and an all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive is required in the snowy wintertime. Other Things to NoteThere is no internet access or cable TV and limited cell service. There is a land line for local calls and emergencies Verizon has the best coverage here. AT&T and Tmobile have no coverage at all. There is a vcr/dvd player with a good selection of movies. Enjoy your technology break, but there's wi-fi available 15 minutes away in Floyd if you need access.

After many requests, starting November we will now have wifi at the TreeHouse! Guest AccessFeel free to make yourself at home. Interaction with GuestsWe are just a call or a text away but will give you complete privacy while you enjoy your stay at the TreeHouse. The NeighborhoodThe TreeHouse is part of a private 300+ acre community with about 40 homes. Feel free to walk the neighborhood farm roads. There is a common area that can be accessed by anyone. We like to float down the river from our home to the common area (1.5+ hour float). Note that the Tree House is remote and on a gravel road with a steep driveway, but that is why we love it so much!

We are close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the quaint town of Floyd, VA full of arts and culture. Our yurts provide the serenity and privacy of two spaces all to yourself (one bedroom and one kitchen/bathroom/living) settled in the back of our farm and separate from our home but close enough to participate in our agri-tourism experience if you would like. And the fresh, mountain spring water! A great space for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
