Our cottage is situated in prime position surrounded by lakes, rivers, snow country, national parks, old country towns, the list is endless. Glenloth Springs Cottage is on a picturesque 300 acre beef and sheep farm located in the stunning Kiewa Valley only 15 minutes from Wodonga and 3.5 hours drive from Melbourne. Ideally suited to families or couples wanting a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, it has everything you need to enjoy a home away from home. The cottage has a fully appointed kitchen, spacious lounge with table tennis and linen and towels are provided. Offering complete privacy in a tranquil, scenic setting there are three private bedrooms all with soft, comfortable bedding suitable for up to five guests. The cottage has one bathroom (with deep bath tub), and shower. Bring your bikes and explore the rail trails in Bright, Beechworth or Lake Hume, or sit and unwind on the veranda and indulge in wine and nibblies. The beautiful Kiewa river courses its way through the township of nearby Kiewa (7 minutes drive). The Murray river, Milawa gourmet region and Rutherglen areas and the Alpine areas of Bright, Mt Buffalo and Falls Creek are all day trips away. Nearby Yackandandah (15 minutes drive) is an old gold mining town and has quirky gift shops to browse in or relax at a café. Whatever you like doing, Glenloth Springs Cottage is in the centre of it all, so come and enjoy some good old fashioned country hospitality. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to go for a walk on the farm and go down to the creek. When the chooks are laying guests can collect eggs for themselves and there is a big old tyre swing that can be used too. The pool area is the host's personal space and not available to guests. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy and welcome interaction with our guests if they come over to our house, otherwise we totally respect their space and leave them to enjoy their surroundings and peace and quiet. We are usually around most of the time and may duck out from time to time. The NeighborhoodKiewa/Tangambalanga is our closest town (7 minutes away) and has a butcher, two general stores and a pub, it is a very sleepy town with a very relaxed feel about it. Getting AroundThere is no public transport to Glenloth Springs Cottage. There are 2 undercover car spaces available at the cottage for guests to use. From Melbourne airport there are flights to Albury and then it's a 30 minute drive here and I can pick you up for a nominal fee. Previous guests have relied on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to find us and got lost due to roads not matching up so here are my directions to help if you're driving up from Melbourne. Travel on Hume Freeway and exit left at Wodonga Albury B400/C319 where it says 'Tallangatta this exit'. Tallangatta B400 straight ahead at traffic lights turn right at roundabout go under Highway overpass and continue to roundabout where you see McDonalds sign, turn left C531 Mt Beauty. Continue straight for 2 kms, then turn right at C531 Yackandandah Mt Beauty and continue 4 kms. Turn right at C527 Yackandandah Alpine resorts, continue straight for 6 kms then turn left at C533 Tangambalanga. Continue 2 kms then turn left at T-intersection C533 Tangambalanga. Continue 200 metres Glenloth Springs Cottage is first on the left. Please call if you need further help with directions. Other Things to NoteMy wish is that guests feel like they are truly welcome and as comfortable as they are at home. In the pantry I have made up a first aid kit that includes items such as hot water bottle, deep heat, strepsils, bandaids etc.... so that you have access to all those little things that you have at home and you don't have to race out to the shops. There is also a porta cot that is available for use.

The SpaceOur straw bale studio was built by hand (ours!) and is small and self contained with queen size bed, shower, composting toilet and open living space. It also has a small kitchenette with fridge and basics (toaster, kettle etc.) While there is no oven we do provide a single portable cooktop that can be used on the benchtop for creating a simple meal if you don't feel like eating out (we provide a saucepan and frypan). There is also a rice cooker and sandwich maker. While the studio is suitable for a single person or a couple, we are happy to provide a foam mattress for a baby or small child if you request before booking. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to all areas of the garden. Entry to studio is several steps. Interaction with GuestsMy husband, young son and I live in the strawbale house on the front of the block but spend large amounts of time away working. If we are not home when you visit (we will advise whether we will be here when you book) you will be welcomed by a local friend. Your privacy will be respected when you stay with us but we are happy to talk about the features of our home that may interest you, including solar photovoltaics, solar hot water, strawbale construction, passive solar a design and composting toilets. Please advise if you are interested in chatting and we will endeavour to be around. The NeighborhoodYack is a beautiful small historic town that is very friendly and welcoming to visitors. While our house is quite private you can be in the main street after a five minute stroll, or alternatively in nearby parkland. There are a few good cafes, two pubs, lots of terrific small shops including two galleries and a fab Thai restaurant. Also the basics like supermarket and pharmacy. Beechworth and all it's eateries is a 15 minute drive and we are 30 minutes drive from Albury-Wodonga. Tourist information is provided in the studio and we also have an excellent tourist info office in town. Getting AroundLike most regional areas, public transport is not fantastic but there is a train to Albury (half hour drive from Yack) and regular buses from there to Yack. Other Things to NotePlease note that both our strawbale house and studio have composting toilets - so if this is going to be a problem for you please don't book! Our house and block is also a works in progress and is not a show garden so please don't be disappointed by the occasional pile of bricks or our unruly veg garden. The studio is hand built and has its own quirks so no plaster walls or shiny finishes! The best descriptor is 'rustic'!

The SpaceA multi award winning house built through a wonderful collaboration of both architecture and craftsmanship. Built on the edge of what was an old gold mine quarry and later a sawmill, now the property lends itself as an active sculptor's studio (Agency of Sculpture) and a family home. King sized bed (which can also be divided into 2 singles beds upon request) and portacot available if your bambino is joining you. Guest AccessSawmill house is located on the same property as an active sculpture workshop. Details on the location of the property supplied when booking complete. House is approximately 40 m from the workshop. We offer an innovative abode, a stunning view, a lovely walk down to the dam as well as the practicalities such as a laundry (separate from the house, up near the workshop), ample parking space, wifi. Interaction with GuestsOwners will not be on the property during your stay however the friendly employees at the sculpture workshop (set around 40 m from the house) will be working on weekdays and some weekends and may occasionally be staying in the workshop accommodation. If you need any help we will be contactable by phone and email and friendly staff may also be able to assist you when they are in the workshop. The NeighborhoodYackandandah is a quaint historic village overflowing with artists. There are two galleries of local water painters in the main street and further up Back Creek road there is a world renowned potter at Kirby's Flat Pottery. Local artists share a space at Yack station which is also worth a visit. Great cafe's in town (notably Saint Monday), a authentic Thai restaurant (Grace's Place) and two pubs! Other Things to NoteTake note that some of the operable elements in the house (the large motorized door to the verandah and verandah roof) are not in use currently. There is still plenty of access to the verandah via 2 other doors. Please send through an enquiry if you are interested in a one night stay as we may sometimes be able to offer this (generally 2 night minimum). The main heating in the house is a wood fire however there is also a small electric heater in the bedroom during the winter months.
