The SpaceLocated off a long quiet road that leads to almost nowhere. Live with nature and enjoy the sounds of birds and wildlife from the true comfort of an amazing private home. Curtains not necessary with the canopy of trees! Private, rustic yet sophisticated, a broad mix of American culture in the area, and beauty all around. Items in home are new and well-maintained. At this time the home is not fitting for pets. Guest AccessFull access to the main living quarters of the house (garage is off limits). Kayaks available for a fee (must arrange ahead of the trip). River and gulf are easy to access with boat docking available at the home! Deep water access to/from the Gulf. Interaction with GuestsIf we're around we are more than happy to meet up with you. Otherwise, we have amazing friends that know the area and will be available to assist with needs at the home, tour you around the area (Charlie is an excellent tour guide and all you have to do is pitch in on his gas, pay his entry fee & buy him lunch), and we can connect you with other fun and interesting people in the area. The NeighborhoodThe town of Yankeetown is quaint and charming. Take a walk down the tree-lined road and enjoy the older 'cracker' homes, the welcoming people, and maybe even stop in for bingo at the local women's club! There is a schedule for yoga and movie night, a local library and post office, and not much more, but it's certainly worth visiting. The Riverside Inn is frequented by locals. Stop in for a quick drink, full meal, or just to share a few stories and learn about what's happening in the area. Crystal River is the closest town with many restaurants and a little 'old town' area. Often times there are festivals and fun events. Homosassa isn't much further down the road. Don't forget to visit the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Other areas to investigate: Dunnellon, Cedar Key, and Ocala. Or, head a couple hours away to Tampa, Orlando, Daytona..... See our (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page for other links and comments: (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteBoating/Fishing - Boat dock with whips available for your use. Let us know if you plan to use it so we can make sure it's set up. If you're aiming to fish, you will want to visit a local bait shop (Inglis/Yankeetown has a couple) and get a tide chart. The Withlacoochee River is a fresh water river that has many dynamics based on the release of water and the gulf tides. The Gulf is very shallow so you will want to speak with the locals and gather maps and other info before heading out. Follow all safety rules/regulations and adventure at your own risk.

Guest AccessThe entire house, with the temporary exception of a lower patio which is undergoing an exciting renovation. Interaction with GuestsUpon arrival and as needed. For kayakers and canoeists: We offer one-way livery service, either up or down river, for $10.00. One way livery service to the Rainbow River in Dunellon is offered for $25.00. These services are generally available but should be arranged in advance so that we can accommodate each others schedules. The NeighborhoodYou will find yourself in the heart of tiny and historic Yankeetown, with quaint homes, oaktree-lined streets, river access, and lots of quiet. Nightlife includes listening to the owls and crickets - and after heavy rains you'll also hear the frog chorus. Our favorite restaurants are: For Pizza, we like our Pub, in Inglis (not ours, that's its name) and the Pizza Oven in Dunnellon. Our Pub has traditional pizzas and calzones, plus a pub menu. It's a local favorite. The Pizza Oven has wood-fired pizzas and is mostly for take out, and worth the drive. Ask for the Wednesday discount on Wednesdays. We like Thaiphoon for Thai and Vintage on 5th for fine dining. Both are in Crystal River. Swampy's in Dunnellon is great for casual atmosphere and good food, with outdoor seating and a river view. It's recommended for lunch or dinner. For a near-by breakfast or lunch we like Mama Sally's, in Inglis. (A favorite on their breakfast menu is the greek omelet.) If you're cooking and you like shrimp, be sure to buy from Art, the local shrimp man. If you see a truck with a giant shrimp sculpture on top parked at the intersection of 19 and 40, that's him. He has great shrimp - and he's a former shrimper. Getting AroundThere is no convenient public transportation - and no Uber. You will need a car. One of the benefits of being in "the real Florida" is being in a secluded and remote location. On the positive side, there's only one traffic light in all of Inglis and Yankeetown. You'll pass through it on the way to the house! Other Things to NoteAsk us about suggestions for enjoying the area. We are nature lovers and can help you find what you're looking for.

This charming house is located in historic Yankeetown across from the public boat ramp. The house itself is surrounded by cedar cypress, and palms, with a wetland area directly to the west. You'll be just a few miles from the Gulf, with easy boating access to Crystal River and Cedar Key. In the immediate area, on the scenic Withlacoochee, you're close to nature - tour by kayak or boat, and you may see roseate spoonbills, wood storks, egrets, herons, otters, alligators, manatees or dolphins. You’ll love the proximity to the river, the quiet location, and the awesome nature experience. The master bedroom is large, with a comfy king-sized bed and a fireplace. The second bedroom is average in size and has a nice queen-sized bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, etc. You'll enjoy dining in, if you like to cook. Spend the day away, enjoying Three Sisters Springs, Rainbow Springs, Manatee Springs, Silver Springs, or Homosassa State Park. All these are within an hour drive. In summer, enjoy scalloping in the shallow waters of the Gulf, between Crystal River and Homosassa. You'll be able to leave from the boat ramp directly across from the house, and have plenty of covered parking for two vehicles and two boat/trailers in the long garage area under the house. This house is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, kayakers, boaters, and families. Please note that it's built on stilts because of its proximity to the river - therefore it is likely not suited for those who have difficulty with a full flight of stairs.
