The SpaceGirnwood Holiday Cottage is a spacious detached self catering cottage with great views. We are 10 miles from the Borders Woolen Mill town of Hawick. But be aware that the last mile of council road is in very poor repair with many deep potholes to avoid. We are in talks with council and forestry with very little progress being made. Update Dec 2016 improvements are being done but this is meaning that the road is very muddy. It should be finished by April 2017 but still recommend to drive with care. The extensive views are of unspoilt border hills but you are close to the farmhouse where the owners live and work should you require any assistance. Guest AccessThe cottage accommodates five people with a super king sized bed in one bedroom and a double and a single for a spacious family bedroom in the other, both are upstairs. We have 2 folding beds to use for any extra guests. Let us know if you need them on booking and we will prepare them in whichever room you wish. All bed linen and towels are provided. The spacious sitting room is warm and comfortable with a large corner sofa, dining area and log burning stove. A separate american log boiler provides central heating and hot water. All fuel is included in the price. Freeview tv, with radio, a library of books, dvds, and games (indoor and out). The bright kitchen has cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and clothes drying machine. The bathroom has a large bath. It is a self-catering cottage, I do provide tea, coffee and sugar but do not do breakfast. I try to keep basics like salt pepper, oil and herbs. Cleaning products are kept in a kitchen cupboard. Interaction with GuestsWe always like to be around when guests arrive to give a tour of the cottage and answer any questions. We like to allow our guests privacy but are available if help is required. The NeighborhoodGirnwood is a small hill farm with 600 cheviot ewes and 50 Aberdeen Angus cows so at certain times of year there will be lambs and calves to see and haymaking in the summer. Pets are always welcome though best to be on a lead when out walking but are safe to run free in the enclosed garden. Scotland promotes access for all to the countryside so you are free to walk cycle or ride anywhere.
