Ettrick View is a beautiful stone-built house that will very comfortably accommodate 14 people with room to spare. Newly converted to a high standard, this traditional 19thC farm steading is the ideal place for family and friends to meet up and relax in the tranquil rural setting of the River Ettrick and rolling Border Hills. The house is extremely spacious, and is tastefully and comfortably furnished, with polished floors downstairs and luxurious fitted carpets everywhere else. With its 6 large bedrooms and big social spaces, it is just the right size to easily accommodate three generations of one family, making Ettrick View a perfect venue for family celebrations.The large lounge has picture windows with amazing views down the Ettrick Valley and, along with well sized kitchen and dining areas, allows plenty of space for everyone to spend time together without falling over each other. There is also a pool table, ping pong, DVDs, books and games as well as a trampoline outside. For disabled access, we have wide hallways and double doorways as well as a downstairs twin or super king size bedroom and toilet/shower room with hand rails, and also a ramp to the house for wheelchairs.The front door opens onto a private enclosed garden with gas BBQ, tables and chairs for alfresco dining, and 4 acres of land slope down towards the River Ettrick with paths, picnic benches and fabulous views. Spend time paddling and messing about in the private stream, or explore the Scottish Borders with it's many Historic Houses, Castles, towns and miles of very scenic, unspoilt countryside.Plenty of places of interest in the area, such as Abbotsford House ( the home of Sir Walter Scott) and Traquair, outdoor activities such as cycling and Go-Ape, and only 75mins from the delights of Edinburgh.Surrounded by rolling hills and winding rivers, Ettrick View is a luxurious rural getaway.

Changeover days are usually Fridays and Mondays but we can sometimes be more flexible off peak - please ask.
Please be aware that we do not accept Stag or Hen parties and in all groups we require there to be at least two responsible adults over the age of 25.
Single extra nights are welcome if we have availability at ÂŁ200/night.
We have yurts available for extra guests.
The area offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Fishing, cycling, walking, and bird watching can all be based from the house, with boating, kayaking, horse riding and several golf courses within about 30 mins, as well as the excellent mountain biking centres of Glentress and Innerleithen. The nearby Buccleuch Estate offers some of the best fishing and shooting in Scotland.
The Ettrick River is famous for it's salmon fishing and is only a 5 minute walk from the house. Permits can be bought locally or arranged in advance. Local tuition is also available by arrangement. There are Lochs and Reservoirs around the area where shore and/or boat fishing is available.
The quiet rolling country roads around Ettrick View are perfect for cyclists, and six national walking routes wend their way through the Scottish Borders including The Southern Upland Way, The Borders Abbey Way and St. Cuthbert's Walk. There are also many woodland, hill, river and village walks nearby. The stunning settings of St Mary's Loch and the Grey Mare's Tail waterfall are a short drive away.
The Tweed Valley offers a plentiful choice of family friendly days out, with play parks, shopping and plenty of historical interest, as well as summer festivities such as local towns' summer common riding festivities, rugby sevens tournaments, and Traquair's Medieval and Summer Fairs.
Selkirk, our closest town has a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, a golf course, swimming pool, some lovely walks, and a new 5 star Lochcarron textile visitor centre with tours around a working mill.
There are stunning Historic Abbeys and houses close by including Bowhill, Abbotsford, Traquair House and Floors Castle. These all have amazing collections as well as fantastic gardens and woodland/river walks. There is a great adventure playground at Bowhill, and the Salmon Viewing Centre at Philiphaugh is also well worth a day out.
