Lovely simple rustic cottage way up in the central mountains of coffee country Puerto Rico that is available for short term rentals. It has an incredible panoramic view all the way to the Caribbean, overlooking Yauco and Guanica Beaches. Two bedrooms, one bath. Fully equipped kitchen and huge balcony. Relax on a hammock on the balcony and try to discern where the blue sky ends and the sea begins! You can really see the stars at night and the twinkling lights of Yauco in the distance. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, we may not be a good match, but if you want 5 billion stars, just step out onto our balcony at night! Great location for exploring the SouthWest corner of PR, including beautiful Cabo Rojo, San Germain, Cuerva Ventana, Cuerva del Indio, etc. Arrange to tour a coffee hacienda right here where some of the world's best coffee is grown! Property is not suitable for children.

The SpaceThis listing is for our first floor apartment which features a covered terrace, a balcony with views of the garden and dry forest, and ease of access. This is the favorite apartment of many of our returning guests. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one bath, a fully furnished kitchen, and a living room . There are beds for 6 guests. Both bedrooms have air conditioning. The living area and kitchen do not have air conditioning but are very well ventilated and stay quite comfortable in the relaxing tropical breezes. Please note that the apartment is intended as a comfortable beach getaway but not as a luxury apartment. Guest AccessThe apartment has it's own entrance, kitchen, bath, living room, and balconies. The only areas that are shared with others are the laundry room and beach shower outside. The apartment also has it's own gas grille on the terrace. Interaction with GuestsThe house belongs to my mother and she spends most of the winter there in the garden apartment. She is very friendly and loves to chit chat if and share rum drinks if you are interested but she is perfectly willing to give you your privacy. When she is not there and none of our other family members are in Puerto Rico we have a very nice lady who takes care of the house and guests for us. Sylvia speaks English very well and is very helpful to guests. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very quiet, warm, sunny, and breezy. It is a place to relax. There are several very nice undeveloped beaches just a 5 minute drive from the house in the dry forest reserve. If you want a cool drink and a little something to eat you can take a short walk down to the San Jacinto Restaurant (the restaurant is very casual and offers local fare). You can sit right on the water and watch the sunset. If you want something more upscale you can take a longer walk or a very short drive to the Copamarina resort and either sit outside in bar with light fare or go for an upscale dinner in their restaurant "Alexandra's". There are some nice restaurants by the bay in Guanica which is a 10 minute drive from our house. Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking for the house, but you must rent a car to get there from the airport. Unfortunately there is no convenient public transportation on our side of the island. Other Things to NoteWhile we spend most of our time at the house and going to the beaches when we come down to Guanica, lots of our guests use our house as a home base for touring the sights of the southern coast of Puerto Rico. Two things not to miss are Guilligan's Island (you can walk to the ferry from our house) and the bioluminescent bay in La Parguera. If you'd like ideas of other things to see in the area just let us know.

The SpaceMy vacation home on the southern coast of Puerto Rico is available for daily, weekly, or monthly rental. It is a magical place - an enchanting retreat located about 60 miles from the capital, San Juan. The majority of activities are related to nature - swimming in crystal-clear waters, diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, early morning hiking, bird watching. The house is not ON the beach. It is close to a number of small and large beaches located within 3 kilometers. It is in a remote and unspoiled area of Puerto Rico. There are no shops, restaurants, bars, casinos, or nightclubs in the area. I have provided lots of board and other games for night time family entertainment. There is a portable dvd player, and a boom box for music. The kitchen is fully equipped - microwave, toaster oven, blender, stainless steel/copper bottom cookware, Braun coffee maker and coffee grinder, as well as an espresso (stove-top) coffee maker. This is the home I and my family use so I have made it friendly. All linens, bath towels and beach towels are included. There is an array of beach toys - paddles, snorkels, flippers, sand toys. The bedrooms both have air conditioners and overhead fans. The living area has overhead Hunter fans. Guest AccessThe entire house and its contents. Interaction with GuestsI have no personal interaction with my guests, as I live in Buenos Aires. but there is a caretaker who is available to hand over keys, show guests around, answer questions, and who is available in case of emergencies. The NeighborhoodAlthough MANY tourists descend upon this PART of Puerto Rico during the winter, this is really a very small neighborhood of mostly puertorrican homeowners. There is, of course, the 4 star resort, The Copamarina, just a short walk away. But it's a real plus being able to go there and enjoy the hotel amenities. Getting AroundThere is NO public transportation. You must rent a car. Other Things to NoteThis is not a brand new house. But it is super comfortable and it is amazingly peaceful.

Harbour House, (beach/cabin style, simple, basic, clean and safe) with ocean view (on the Malecon) above ground pool, jacuzi, deck, covered patio, stainless steel bar-b-q. 3 bedrooms/3 futons or daybeds. Up to 12 people, very economical for families. Great access to snorkeling, kayaking, water sports, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, dry forest and loads of beaches. pet friendly. located walking distance to fresh fish market.Harbour House is an older home in traditional Caribbean style, part block, part wood with a tin roof and tile floor. I've seen tens of thousands throughout the islands and similar to what I knew as lake or beach cabins back in the U.S. The opposite of luxury Harbour House is economical and comfortable. Every square inch of the place is shown in video to avoid surprises. Our property has the greatest appeal to larger families on a budget, budget travelers, outdoor sports enthusiasts (diving, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, etc.) and people looking for “the Caribbean for the rest of us”Issues & FAQ: 1) Noise: The Malecon (street in front of the bay) comes alive on weekends with families. The party very PG rated, including karaoke, can last until midnight. There has never been a guest complaint, they included themselves in the activities, food, drink, bounce and other rides for the kids in a festive safe atmosphere. Sat and Sun are the big nights with the fun ending early on Sunday. 2) AC: The master bedroom has a window unit that cools the house along with fans. There has never been a guest issue with being hot, most report being very comfortable to chilly at night given the sea breezes. The adjoining rooms have open space at top to allow cool air flow.3) Cooking outside: We have two burners and a big stainless steel bar-b-que, a large picnic table and a sink. Guests enjoy cooking seafood and eating al fresco under the covered patio.4) Bleach: we disinfect the entire house with 50/50 mix of bleach/water. Some guests have said they have a sensitivity to bleach.5) Bugs: We have a monthly service with spray, foggers and termites. It is the tropics, if food is left out there will be bugs. If you see bugs, ants, roaches, termites, please report to management immediately where we may treat.6) Trash: Trash collection is weekly.7) House furnishings and décor: An eclectic assembly of this and that from travels. Rooms are named after some favorite Caribbean bars and restaurants; mementoes from travels and a family restaurant business. There are some water spots on drop down ceiling that have bled through the new paint but the entire house is dry safe and clean. Fluorescents lights throughout the house.8) Small Caribbean issues: All the time spent in the Caribbean I noticed the smaller the place the more stray dogs, cats, chickens/roosters and roadside trash that exists. It was that way in Turks and Caicos and it's that way in Guanica Puerto Rico. Guanica is beautiful nature just like Turks and Caicos, but mankind can be unkind, unthoughtful and downright destructive. Note the drive to work video, it will show what to expect before booking. 9) SAFETY: Is it safe in Guanica? Yes it is you may come and go as you please, violent crime is almost non-existent however still protect yourself from petty crime by locking car doors and storing valuables. Puerto Rico seems to have a bad reputation for crime but its almost exclusively due to the big cities, San Juan, not unlike Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Miami, Boston or D.C. 10) Hot water: On demand tankless hot water heater, the slower the water the hotter the water.11) Pool and Jacuzi: The private above ground pool and jacuzi are high quality. We use weekly shock treatments and chlorine (floating) tablets. The pool and jacuzi are on timers, ran daily for two hours through oversized filters. Some guests are sensitive to chlorine, we strive for clean sanitized water, should you have a problem contact management. The jacuzi works on a timer and takes time to heat up at night.12) TV: We provide basic Direct TV you may purchase additional services/premium channels/sport packages through a pay-as-you-go service.13) Wireless internet service has been discontinued due to poor service but rental of AT&T; WIFI hotspot is available.14) Towel and linen service: we offer weekly towel and linen service for $20 otherwise guests will need to provide linens.15) Cleaning: Cleaning is done on check out before new guests arrive.16) Dust/Dirt: Most everyone enjoys the breezes through the screened windows, which brings in whatever is in the air. The trade winds in the Caribbean originate in Africa don't be surprised to see a layer of dust after a breezy relaxing day, it's part of nature and a big part of living by the sea. Finally, the owners of the property are Christian, as such they are adamant that guests are well cared for and not misled. Enjoy Harbour House as you would your own lake or beach cabin. Guest's issues should be addressed immediately. Upon arrival if the property is not your liking then you will be refunded 100% of what the owners have received (some services take a fee which cannot be recovered). Exceptions to policy high season: June and July.Amenities: some pots/pans, cutlery, utensils, microwave, coffee maker, freezer, 4 cubic in fridge, large picnic table, stainless bar-b-q, two gas burners, direct tv, one small TV/DVD, and a fan in every room. Towel and linen service, WIFI hotspot, boat trips, diving, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, beach cruises, etc. available at extra fee. HOT TUB/SPA 1) TURN THE HOT TUB/SPA ON: The silver box is a timer switch that’s cuts on the hot tub. It’s located next to the light switch. Turn clockwise and the hot tub/spa will run for 1 hour. For extra hot water (101 degrees) see #2. 2) FOR EXTRA HOT WATER: Hot tub/spa is electric and heats water slowly. The proper way to have extra hot water is to call/text property manager, have the hot tub/spa manually turned on and covered for 24 hours. The water temp is set default 101 degrees and the water is getting warmer every minute the hot tub/spa is running. AIR CONDITIONING We have installed a very efficient remote controlled central air conditioning unit that, in combination with fans, cools the whole house. To keep rents low we ask that you turn the AC off when you are not in the house. The master bedroom has a backup window unit that can be used in the event of failure of the central unit. See property management for procedure. BBQ Cooking is done outside with twin burners and stainless steel BBQ. We supply high quality cooking utensils and cookware. BBQ is lit with a lighter. There should always be two, one next to the BBQ and one spare in the kitchen cabinet. We supply a large propane tank plus there is an emergency spare tank under the BBQ. Please see property management for details. To keep rents low and for your safety we ask you turn off the propane bottle when not in use. TV We have Direct TV ULTRA package which includes almost everything besides the movie channels. Use the built in guide for details. SHOWER: HOT WATER The shower has an on demand hot water heater. The water will automatically get to a preset temperature when turned on. If the water is too hot, call or text property management. Should you find the water too cool for your liking reduce water flow, however, if water flow is reduce too much heater will automatically shot off. BOOKS Below the TV is a small library. You are welcome to take one to read. We ask that you take one and leave one if possible for the next guests. LAUNDRY See property management for laundry options. We have a laundry in town where clothes can be dropped, washed, dried and folded. SANITIZATION OF POOL AND HOT TUB/SPA The pool and hot tub/spa are sanitized by tablets automatically by floating dispensers. The tablets use chlorine so people sensitive to chlorine should take care. Also, excessive bubbles, resembling soap bubbles, will appear by leaving the floating dispenser in hot tub/spa. Simply remove the dispenser while using the hot tub/spa and the bubbles will go away The floating dispenser should never be removed from pool. Both pool and hot tub/Spa are set to filter daily with electrical timers. The pool has an oversized filtering system for added protection CLEANING SUPPLIES AND CHEMICALS The house is sanitized with bleach based chemicals, those sensitive to bleach should take added caution. Cleaning chemicals and supplies are located under the sink in kitchen cabinet. Guanica is known for its unique dry forests, beaches, offshore cays, diving/snorkeling and water sports

The jacuzi works on a timer and takes time to heat up at night.12) TV: We provide basic Direct TV you may purchase additional services/premium channels/sport packages through a pay-as-you-go service.13) Wireless internet service has been discontinued due to poor service but rental of AT&T WIFI hotspot is available.14) Towel and linen service: we offer weekly towel and linen service for $20 otherwise guests will need to provide linens.15) Cleaning: Cleaning is done on check out before new guests arrive.16) Dust/Dirt: Most everyone enjoys the breezes through the screened windows, which brings in whatever is in the air. The SpaceThis listing is for our garden apartment which offers solitude and decks for relaxing in the garden. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one bath, a fully furnished kitchen, and a living area. The living area is the largest of our three apartments. There are beds for 4 guests with additional sleeping space for 2 guests on the pull out couch in the living area. Each of the bedrooms is air conditioned. The living room and kitchen are not air conditioned but are very well ventilated and take advantage of the relaxing tropical breezes. Please note that the apartment is intended as a comfortable beach getaway but not as a luxury apartment. Guest AccessThe apartment has it's own entrance, kitchen, bath, living room, and garden decks. The only areas that are shared with other guests are the laundry room on the ground floor and the outside shower for rinsing off after going to the beach. The apartment also has it's own gas grille outside on the deck. Interaction with GuestsThe house belongs to my mother and she spends most of the winter there in the garden apartment. She is very friendly and loves to chit chat and enjoy a rum drink if you are interested but is perfectly willing to give you your privacy. If you want something more upscale you can take a longer walk or a very short drive to the Copa Marina resort and either sit outside in bar with light fare or go for a romantic dinner in their restaurant "Alexandra's" Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking for the house, but you must rent a car to get there from the airport.
