The SpaceBuilt in 1869, our house is one of the oldest in the area. Your space is a private apartment with a separate entrance. It includes 1 bedroom, (with a large walk in closet), a futon space, fully equipped kitchen -microwave, oven, fridge, blender, toaster, etc., full bath, living room with dining space. All sheets, towels, and soaps are included. Entertainment includes basic cable tv, books and games (Including Catan). We also have a Chromecast so that you can watch your favorites using your Android phone or tablet. We have two air conditioning window units in the space.
We can accommodate up to 4 adults. The apartment has a bedroom with a full sized bed, a futon, a large plush sofa, and we can loan a single air mattress if necessary. Families are welcome. We are dog friendly so please bring them (2 maximum) along.
Though house is updated and very clean it is still over 100 years old. The house has quirks, noisey (but, charming) steam heat, and the occasional seasonal bug. The character and open space of the apartment outweigh any minor inconvience of residing in an older house.
We are avid farmers and pride ourselves on our small organic urban farm on the property. The house sits on a half an acre of land just walking distance from historic Depot Town. Every year we farm maple syrup, all sorts of veggies, and medicinal and culinary herbs.
We urge you to explore the property. Come spring and summer you will find us and the dogs outside in the yard more than inside. We build fire pits during the summer months and you are welcome to use them as well during your stay.
Heather is a self trained herbalist. She has created a beautiful and incredibly useful perennial medicinal garden here. She uses herbs from her own garden to produce healing balms and soaps for her small farmers market buisness. She travels all over the state teaching eager learners how to be more self sufficiant in healing and hosts herb walks in local natural spaces. She will be more than happy to show you around the garden.
Johnny works at a local brewery and right now he is head first into the project of building our tiny house. He is friendly and always up for talking about the build or other homestead projects.
The house has other tenants, all of whom are friendly and respectful.
We all love being outside in the garden and eat regular meals on the front porch (weather permitting). We occasionally use the space as a community gathering space, both the yard and inside the house. We are never going late and always respectful of potential noise.
Our house and the local area is LGBTQ and poly friendly. Guest AccessYou have full access to your apartment. Enjoy the weather on the covered porch.
