The SpaceSituated on 1.3 acres with panoramic view of Zion National Park, the Smithsonian Butte and Gooseberry Mesa, the lodge consist of the main house and a detached 3 car garage with a studio loft above the garage. The main house has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a full size kitchen and living room. This is the ideal size for a family gathering or a weekend outing with friends. The house is secluded and enjoys a quietness that will bring back peace to your mind especially if you are trying to escape the hectic and noise of city life. As you enter the main door, the kitchen greets you with stainless steel appliances (fridge/freezer with icemaker and water cooler, microwave oven, dish washer, cooker and oven) ready for you to cook a delicious meal or just heat up a pizza after a long day out hiking. Sit at the 'bar' or gather around the dining table to chat, eat and have a great time. Sit around the wood burning fireplace in the winter, or just relax and watch a movie. We have satellite service, WiFi connection to Netflix, and a collection of DVD for borrowing. We usually end up on the floor with the kids playing a board game. You will feel close to the outdoors as the glass sliding door makes up the other wall. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is plenty of sleeping space for 6+. A twin trundle is hidden under one of the twin beds in Bedroom #3. Bathroom #1 is accessed from Bedroom #1, the second bathroom is between the other two bedrooms. All bedrooms have a sliding door to the courtyard garden. There is a full laundry cabinet in the hallway. Above the 3 car garage is the studio loft. The view from here is just amazing. Separate from the main house, there is a lot of charm and privacy. There is a kitchenette with a small fridge, coffee maker, kettle and toaster oven. The studio has it's own bathroom with a shower and is cooled and heated by an energy efficient ductless unit. Why stay indoors when you have so much beauty outside to enjoy. You could barbeque your next meal and enjoy outdoor dining on the patio. Or build a fire in the fire-pit and toast hotdogs or marshmallows over an open fire at night or just enjoy the night sky on a clear night with thousands of stars. Guest AccessYou have access to the whole house, garage space and the room above the garage. There is a play house in the enclosed garden and a firepit with free firewood. Available cable TV and WiFi (free). Interaction with GuestsWe do not live close by but I am available 24/7 via phone, text or email. We have a caretaker that lives down the street and can be reached for emergencies. The NeighborhoodThis is a great location for family getaways and adventurers seeking a central base to explore the surrounding National Parks. It is so close to Zion (35 mins) and Bryce (2 hrs) National Parks, 1.5 hrs to Lake Powell, 1.5 hours to the Grand Canyons North Rim NP and close to several state parks and national monuments. We are also within the immediate vicinity to world-class mountain biking trail systems such as Gooseberry Mesa, Little Creek Mesa and the JEM/Hurricane Rim Trails. For the adventurous soul, head down the Smithsonian Butte Country Byway in your 4WD. Smithsonian Butte Back Country Byway is only 1.5 miles from the lodge and travels for 9 miles between Apple Valley on State Route 59 to Rockville on State Route 9. As the route winds down into the Valley of the Virgin River, you'll experience views of Zion Canyon, Canaan Mountain, the Vermillion Cliffs, and Zion National Park just four miles west. As you reach the highest points on the Byway, Zion's fiery landscaping, filled with buttes and temples, lays in panoramic glory at your feet. Getting AroundNo public transportation. A car is essential but if you have one or can upgrade to a 4WD or SUV, you could have some fun enjoying the back country. Other Things to NotePlease add tax 10.2%, cleaning fee ($150) and refundable security deposit ($250) to the price. In the winter (Nov to Feb) the studio above the garage is closed (winterized) so only the main house is open for rent hence winter price is $175/night.
