← Back to ‘Discover the Best Things to Do, Everywhere’

When you think of Africa, a wave of things rush to mind, notably a montage of fantastic landscapes showcasing Earth´s diverse nature. Africa is also home to some of the most incredible natural and human-made sites in the world, putting history into perspective and encouraging visitors to discover new, unknown paradises. Here are 5 of the best places to visit in Africa, guaranteed to make your next trip memorable.

The Great Migration – Tanzania

Although some might consider this to not be a hidden treasure, the Great Migration in Tanzania and Kenya is one of the world’s most amazing natural spectacles. Taking place all year-round, this fascinating natural cycle is the annual movement of vast numbers of wildebeest accompanied by zebras and gazelles, all searching for food and water. Traveling a total of roughly 500 miles, the Great Migration is the largest overland migration in the world. The animal’s journey from Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Reserve in January, up through the Serengeti around June, and to Kenya’s Masai Mara around September, before starting the cycle all over again.

Dejmaa el Fna – Morocco

Quite possibly the most exciting town square in the world. The Dejmaa el Fna in Marrakech is an adventure waiting to be discovered by travelers looking to get a real African experience. The market is a true testament to Morocco’s old traditions and customs, crammed into one huge plaza. Snake charmers and their harmonious flutes are joined by acrobats, musical performers, and slapstick comedy acts. Visitors are likely to run into Berber musicians and Gnaoua singing troupes, as well as henna tattoo artists, storytellers, date-sellers and orange juice vendors—all contributing to the charmingly eclectic atmosphere taking place every day.

Riemvasmaak Hot Springs – South Africa

About 35 miles from Kakamas, in the Northern Cape Region of South Africa, is a wilderness born from a long history of violent volcanic activity. The formation took place over millions of years to create unparalleled natural beauty in the Riemvasmaak Hot Springs. The location holds special spiritual significance for locals and is perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating right next to 50-feet tall granite cliffs. Enjoy activities such as hiking down the canyon, 4×4 driving, or black eagle watching in a lunar landscape. Afterward, relax in ancient volcanic hot-springs under the starry African sky.

Sossusvlei – Namibia

Literally meaning “dead-end marsh”, the Sossusvlei region in Namibia is a wonderful landscape of dry and colorful nature, so spectacular it could be featured in films. Located in the southern Namib Desert, the region consists of a dry lake, claypan, and orange and red sand dunes reaching up to 1300 feet in height, making them the highest in the world. The stunning vision of red and white sands contrasting with each other is complemented by the rainy season´s rare filling of the pan as the Tsauchab river floods, drawing visitors from all over the world to witness the event.

Lake Bunyonyi – Uganda

The area of Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda draws visitors from around the world with its stunning landscape in a mystical and surreal atmosphere. Considered to be the second deepest lake in Africa, Lake Bunyonyi is filled with numerous islands very close to each other. Explore the lake to experience tranquillity you have never known before. Tours run throughout the year, thanks to the constant moderate temperatures.
