With the current canine craze sweeping through the United States, people are starting to look less for pet sitters and more for pet-friendly accommodations. Here is our list of the best pet-friendly hotels in Beantown.

Onyx Hotel

The Onyx Hotel is an excellent pet-friendly spot right in the heart of downtown Boston. Just a half mile from the Freedom Trail and Faneuil Hall, Onyx’s location is unbeatable; plus, their pet policy is very accommodating. No fees, no mandatory deposits, and all dogs of all sizes are welcome — as long as they can fit in the door. They have recently hired Rocco, a three-year-old Australian Labradoodle as their director of pet relations — so they’re clearly not fooling around when it comes to pet hospitality. If you’re looking to take your pet out, there’s a small park only four blocks away, near North Station. There’s also pet-sitting and dog-walking services available upon request if you want to check out the best Free Museums in Boston

Kimpton Hotel Marlowe

Located just on the other side of the Charles River in East Cambridge, the Marlowe is another option for a luxury pet-friendly stay in the Boston area. Owned by the same parent company as Onyx, their pet policy is exactly the same — they’ve even proudly hosted penguins and sloths. After five visits, pets receive a lunchbox full of goodies and special treats from their “preferred dog treat shop”, Polka Dog Bakery. Take a left out the door and walk 50 feet to find the closest park where your pet can get some exercise.

Fifteen Beacon

Located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood just southwest of downtown is Fifteen Beacon, a 5-star hotel that offers as many lavish amenities for its pets as it does for its guests. In lieu of a pet fee, the Fifteen Beacon asks guests to give a $25 donation towards the MSPCA Angell Memorial Hospital, an organization committed to combating animal cruelty. Furry friends receive dog bowls that are refilled nightly, dog beds, and healthy homemade biscuits. It’s also located right down the road from Boston Common, a 52-acre park where pets can run free during specified hours.

Best Western Plus Boston Hotel

Just south of the city, Best Western is one of the best budget-friendly Boston hotels. If you’re visiting the city for a Red Sox game and are looking to be in close proximity to Fenway Park, Best Western Plus is your best bet. For a fee of $20 per pet per night (with a $100 per week maximum), your four-legged friend will be more than comfortable. If you’re headed out for the afternoon or evening for a game, the front desk will provide you with information on dog sitting services in the surrounding neighborhood. Additional pet types like birds and cats will only be accepted at the hotel’s discretion, so consider calling ahead and maybe sending over a cute photo to sway their opinion.

Westin Boston Waterfront

If you’re looking for an affordable option near the Logan International Airport that doesn’t skimp on hospitality, the Westin is your calling. As you’ve probably noticed, a hotel that calls itself “pet-friendly,” often means their pet fees are not. The Westin recently waived their pet fee, but will not allow dogs over 40 pounds to stay. It’s also adjacent to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, as well as close to several parks and waterfront lookouts, making it very appealing for those looking to spend some time outside with their companion.
