Inspirational Female Travelers to Follow on Instagram

← Back to ‘Best Places to Travel Solo’

Setting off on your first solo travel journey isn’t easy. Luckily there are some brave, trailblazing women who have paved the way. These 16 female travelers have Instagram accounts that will make you feel simultaneously sick with envy and inspired to start your own adventure. Here are women travelers on Instagram that you need to follow right now:

1. @glographics

Gloria, otherwise known as Glo, has been traveling the world since she graduated from college in 2013. So far, she has visited 48 countries across 5 continents and shows no sign of slowing down. It’s safe to say she knows a thing or two about solo travel. Her Instagram takes you through a whirlwind journey, drawing you in with enticing images and holding your interest with her hilarious stories of cultural interactions, dating mishaps, and provocative — yet educational — travel rants.

2. @getouttheregirl

Christina left her comfy life in California to pursue one of travel. She uses her Instagram to inspire other women to make their own lives an adventure worth living. Christina complements images of historical landmarks and natural world wonders with inspirational stories and introspective posts about her travel experiences: her account is the intersection of personal growth and exploration. While a majority of her posts are curated from her travels, Christina balances her account with Insta-stories of her day-to-day mishaps and shenanigans.

3. @_traveljewels_

Jewels resides in from Durham, North Carolina. Her mantra is to live a full life–a goal she accomplishes through travel. Her full-time job as a Public Health professional in no way keeps her from taking trips to places like Jamaica, Amsterdam, Cambodia and all around the U.S. Jewels’ Instagram is full of impressive photos and savvy travel tips. Most inspirational, though, is the way Jewels shows us that world travel as a complement to a busy life is both worthwhile and possible.

4. @travelingjackie

Jackie discovered her wanderlust at 18 years old and hasn’t stopped exploring since. She focuses on making the most of every adventure on a minimal budget, which is perfect for the novice world traveler. If her tips on budget travel don’t impress you, then her pictures of the world’s most beautiful natural landscapes will.

5. @soullotraveler

Geena is a recent college graduate from California with big travel aspirations. With only about a year of travel under her belt, she’s already visited Italy, France, Spain, Colombia, and Jamaica. Geena shows her followers that travel is not only possible but necessary. She aims to help other young travelers navigate the exciting and overwhelming world of wanderlust through budget travel tips and inspirational advice.

6. @iwasinspired

A post shared by Yawilka Mayer (@iwasinspired) on

Born in the Dominican Republic, Yawilka’s backyard is a paradise in itself. Although that doesn’t keep her from venturing to picturesque destinations like Morocco, Munich, Greece, and India. Her well-captured images and beautifully curated timeline will make you want to pack your bags and hop on a plane right away.

7. @reneeroaming

Renee is an artist in every sense of the word. Her gorgeous landscape photographs transport you from wherever you’re scrolling into the alluring world of wanderlust. Renee is a photographer by trade who uses her talent to show us the world’s most captivating places–from Utah to the Faroe Islands of Denmark–in the way that Mother Nature intended us to see them.

8. @donttriptravel

If Anitra had a superpower it would be multitasking. If you’ve ever wondered about fitting world travel into a busy life, then @donttriptravel is the account you need to follow. Somehow Anitra finds the time to pursue a Master’s degree, entertain a social life, present about her travel experiences on panel forums and satisfy her curiosity for exploring far off places as a solo traveler. Anitra shows us how to live a balanced life, and she does so with an uncanny amount of finesse.
