9 Cheap Summer Vacation Ideas for Students

← Back to ‘How to Travel the World For Free’

Summer is just around the corner, and, as a student, you deserve a break from all the stress you’ve endured throughout the school year. Even if you’re on a budget, you can still get away and enjoy a few days in the sun. Here are nine summer vacations for U.S. students that you can book without breaking the bank.

1. Dublin, Ireland

Dublin is an amazing city with a deep and fascinating history. Why not take a trip to the Guinness Factory to see how the famous drink is made? While you’re at it, have a go at pouring yourself a pint. You can relax in one of the city’s many famous pubs and take in the atmosphere. If you want to experience a different type of city life, this is the place for you.

2. Daytona, Florida

If you’re looking for some sun this summer, this is the place to go. Daytona can reach 80-degrees F during the day, and there’s a huge selection of beaches where you can take in all that sun. The party is always on your doorstep in Daytona with the Big Red Party Bus that travels around the city. With hotel rooms as low as $40 a night, you can take this trip on a budget.

3. Paris, France

Paris may not initially sound like a budget holiday, but it’s all in the planning. Writer and travel enthusiast Anna Jones from EssayRoo Australian Writing Service says, “You can get a cheap holiday to Paris if you book it at the right time. The key is to go during national holidays, such as Bastille Day. That way, entry to attractions such as the Louvre is free.”

4. Costa Rica

Are you the adventurous type? Then Costa Rica is the place for you this summer. There are all kinds of exciting things to try, such as white water rafting, waterfall rappelling, and zip lining. Plus, you get the beautiful weather and the sandy beaches to enjoy, too. With round-trip tickets as little as $300, it’s actually a steal.

5. Denver, USA

If you’re looking for a domestic adventure, you can’t do much better than Denver. You can ride roller coasters at Lakeside Amusement Park, or catch a baseball game at Coors Field. There’s plenty to see and do. Plus, a round trip ticket will run you under $300.

6. Ecuador

This might not be the first place that comes to mind when planning a summer vacation, but Ecuador is more budget friendly than you think. Writer William Garrison from College Essay Writing Service says, “We’ve seen many students plan a trip [to Ecuador], as they get to work on their Spanish skills. They (also) can go see the beautiful Galapagos Islands.”

7. Amsterdam, Netherlands

This city has a salacious reputation, but there’s so much more to Amsterdam than that. You can learn about the city’s history, or even just enjoy the beautiful scenery along the famous canal. Travel to Amsterdam has become cheaper for American travelers, too.

8. Bolivia

Bolivia has been popular with students for years now, and although the area has begun to get popular with tourists, you can still enjoy your vacation on a budget. The plane tickets may be pricey, but once you’re there, you can get by for around $20 a day.

9. Albania

Europe doesn’t have to be expensive. The cost of living is much lower in Albania when compared to other European destinations, which means it’s a lot cheaper for travelers, too. Make sure to check out the local cuisine when you go- there’s nothing like it in the world.
