9 Best Places for Bungee Jumping Around the World

← Back to ‘Your Introduction to Outdoor and Adventure Travel`

AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch created the world’s first commercial bungee jump in 1988 at Kawarau Bridge in Queenstown, New Zealand, and ever since, thrill-seeking adrenaline junkies have been taking the plunge from bridges across the globe. Bungee jumping is practically a rite of passage in the realm of extreme sports, and whether it’s your first time or your fifth, the excitement of adventure never fades. Looking for a challenge this year? Below, we’ve compiled a list of nine of the best places for bungee jumping around the world that are sure to test your limits.

Humboldt, California, United States: Redwood Forest Trees

The bungee jump company Bungee Adventures is the only company that has legal permission to lead jump trips off of a redwood, according to Explore the USA. We’re into it— it’s essentially three adventures in one. First, jumpers climb the tree, then tightrope walk between two trees, and finally jump 150 feet off of the tree.

Livingstone, Zambia: Victoria Falls Bridge

Jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge and plummet 364 feet toward the crocodile-infested Zambezi River below. Come here for bungee jumping between two countries: Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Cusco, Peru: Action Valley

Located within the Peruvian Andes, daredevils have been traveling up to the adventure park since 2001. To get there, you have to ride up in a cage that’s suspended between two mountains by resistance cables. Come here to experience the highest bungee jump location in South America.

Marble Canyon, Arizona, United States: Navajo Bridge

At 467 feet, the height isn’t actually the rush that draws crowds in for bungee jumping in Marble Canyon— it’s the stunning view. Come here to jump toward the Colorado River with panoramic views of the red rock desert gorge.

Biella, Italy: Ponte Colossus

The bridge got its name “Colossus” for a reason. Spanning nearly 1150 feet, this bridge is not only impressive in size, but also a feat for bungee jumping: your first fall will take 4.5 seconds, and the free fall vertical velocity averages 62 mph.

Tatopani, Nepal: Bhote Kosi River Jump

The site, located at Last Resort, towers 524 feet above the Bhote Kosi River in Nepal and is surrounded by a tropical gorge. The jump into the lush green landscape is a full-day adventure.

Artuby Bridge Bungee Jumping, France

Looking to get your heart racing? Jump 597 feet from the Artuby Bridge in Marseille. Latitude Challenge coordinates this adventure, which happens to be the fifth highest bungee from a bridge in the world.

Innsbruck, Austria: Europabrücke

Designed for experienced jumpers, this Austrian site is a whopping 629 feet above the Sill River. The plummet from the bridge takes just five seconds and racks up speeds as fast as 75 mph. After your initial drop, you’ll feel weightless as you rebound, but only for a moment, before you start to fall again.

Macau, China: AJ Hackett Macau Tower Bungee Jump

The ultimate thrill: At an incredible 764 feet tall (that’s more than 70 stories), the Macau Tower in China is the highest bungee jump in the world! They actually had to design a new, specialized bungee cord that evenly distributes the jumper’s weight when jumping from that height. Not to be cliché, but this would definitely be the thrill of a lifetime.
