← Back to ‘4 Can’t-Miss Glamping Experiences’
Glamping is a relatively new concept in the Colombian vacation scene, so right now is the perfect time to take a trip and explore largely untouched areas in some of the country’s first glamping spots. From tipis in Villa de Leyva through to luxury glamping in the heart of the Desierto de Tatacoa, here are our top places for glamping in Colombia.
On Colombia’s northern coast, Parque Tayrona looks like something out of a Jurassic Park movie. With stunning beaches, deserted coves and thick rainforests it’s hard to tear yourself away. There are several budget camping options, alongside high-end eco hotels. However, if you want the best of both worlds, look no further than glamping on the beachfront on one of Tayrona’s beaches. The Tayrona Tented Lodge is a great glamping option, with rustic eco tents, each with proper beds and their own private bathroom. The tents are just twenty meters from the sea, so you can wake up on the beach to incredible sea views. Check out more accommodation options in the region of Magdelena.

Just 12 miles from Parque Tayrona is Costeño Beach, a coastal spots that’s becoming a regular on the backpacker trail. It’s a stunning beach with a sleepy atmosphere. Costeño Beach Surf Camp offers bungalows with a tent-style door, giving guests a bit more luxury than camping. The beds are comfy and it’s just a three-minute walk from the beach. Some of the huts have private bathrooms, others have shared bathrooms. There is on-site surfboard rental and lessons are available.
The Desierto de Tatacoa is a striking landscape in southern Colombia. It’s a large, arid desert-like area with colorful red rock, similar to that of the Grand Canyon in the USA. It’s only just started to open up to tourism and at the moment there are only a handful of places to stay in the desert. If you’ve got cash to spend, the Bethel Bio Hostel is a stunning glamping option, right in the heart of the desert. The rooms are built in the style of a tent, with local materials, giving it a real shabby-chic vibe. The location is a top place to visit for star-gazing, thanks to its crystal clear skies and the hostel has an observatory where you can soak in the sky at night.
Villa de Leyva is a great destination in Colombia if you like jumping into lakes and exploring mountains and forests. The Aldea Tipi is a glamping option that’s located along a rural road, leading into the mountains. It’s just a ten-minute drive to Villa de Levy, but is still an incredibly peaceful location surrounded by nature. There are three large tipis on site and each tipi comes complete with its own shower and kitchen. There is also an outdoor shower, a barbecue zone and mountain views.

You can stay in your very own ‘igloo’ in Guatavita. The accommodation is dome-shaped and is made from completely clear materials, meaning you can wake up in the middle of the surrounding nature. Guests love the comfy beds too.
