Ontario may be thought of as the province with Toronto in it, but the 6-god metropolis sitting in the south is hardly representative of the area as a whole. In fact, there are nearly 1,000 miles between Toronto and Fort Severn, the northernmost community in Ontario on the Hudson Bay. And between these two very different places there is a whole lot of wilderness waiting to be explored. Sure enough, tucked away in the seemingly endless forests, awaits some of the best glamping in the world. So from cabins to yurts, we found Glampinghub’s best places to rough it comfortably in Ontario.
Toronto isn’t the only major city to fall within the Ontario borders, Ottawa, Canada’s picturesque capital city, also calls it home. This treehouse is just a 30-minute getaway from the Trudeau residence but feels worlds away from the city, politics, and Arabian Nights parties. When the hosts say “off the grid”, take them seriously as there is no electricity, WiFi, or TV. However, there is an abundance of entertaining outdoor activities like boating, on-site yoga, and fishing.
Yurts deserve to have some funky decorations, and that’s just what this glamping spot outside of Mississippi Mill, Ontario has. From the tapestries displaying chakras and psychedelic looking mushrooms to the mattresses on the floor, guests can get a full hippy experience. The cold outdoor shower and outhouse will only help bring out the inner flower child.
While from afar it might look like a giant London phonebooth, it is actually a fully operation tiny house. And a pretty luxurious one at that. It may only be 10×10 feet but the little home has just about everything one would need for a cozy vacation. Upstairs (yes it has two floors) is a sleeping area for two, while downstairs there’s a comfortable living area and small kitchen fully equipped to cook meals. Meanwhile, outside the property has an awesome open-air shower and picnic area to add a little extra space to the tiny home.
This is about as legit a yurt you’ll find. Besides being surprisingly spacious, the yurt’s walls are made of multiple layers of real wool. This allows the home to stay warm even in the dead of the Canadian winter. Which is good news as the yurt is situated in the Canadian countryside; a spot that is frequently visited by free-roaming buffalo. The guests that visit during the warmer months can head down to the nearby river for a swim or take out the canoe that is provided.
This tiny house isn’t tiny because it has to be, on the contrary, this home is actually situated on 10 full acres. But the home also still makes the most of its slight structure through creative uses of space, which allows it to accommodate a full family of four. It is also unique as it has a roomy patio. Unlike many of these other properties, this tiny home is close to the attractions not only of Lake Muskoka but also to the quaint town of Gravenhurst.
The name gives a good description of this place’s surroundings. The rental itself is located on an island in the middle of Bobs Lake, in the Land O Lakes region. However, this specific glamping experience isn’t all about getting away from everything and finding a little bit of isolation on your own or with a significant other. Instead, this rental is actually three-in-one, as on the “resort” property, there is the main house, a guest house next to the lake, and a tree-house to accommodate a few more. All in all this glamping resort can host 16 people.
This Glampinghub rental in Ontario really satisfies everyone’s stereotypical notions of what a perfect cabin in the woods is. Wooden interior, cozy feel, 127 acres of private land, nearby river, and a built-in “off-the-grid” mentality. While a few people may be reluctant to leave their devices behind, this cabin will surprise people with just how quickly a day can pass by reading a book in a hammock or sipping a cup of tea with a good view.
