The Top Pet-Friendly Hotels in Alabama

← Back to ‘Traveling With Your Pets: The Ultimate Guide to Pet-Friendly Hotels & Trave’

Not so many years ago, traveling with your pet was a bit of a headache. Not many places offered the chance to bring your companion along, and taking them on a plane was out of the question. However, times are changing and pet-friendly accommodation is more common with plenty of hotels, B&Bs, campgrounds, apartments and other vacation rentals opening their doors to visitors with animal companions. Nevertheless, it’s still important to check each property’s pet policies, read reviews of other guests with pets, and contact the place to make sure everything is in order before you arrive.

Traveling South and want to share an activity with your furry best friend? Go hunting in a stunning natural reserve, feel the adrenaline rush in Talladega, compete in one of the Wiener Dog Races in Cullman City, or pay respects in Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard? From Birmingham to Huntsville, Jackson to Auburn, and Montgomery to the Gulf Shores, if you´re visiting the great state of Alabama and plan to bring your pet along, here’s our list of pet-friendly hotels.

Hotels, Inns & Suites

Hotels have a steady history of slowly becoming more pet-friendly. Some of the bigger hotel chains and franchises have implemented policies that allow people to bring their furry family member with them during their vacation. It’s always good to check ahead and make a reservation to ensure the place can accommodate pets. One of the most common hotel policies is to charge a per-stay fee for the extra guest. The fee is non-refundable in most cases and allows the hotel to prepare facilities for your pet like a water bowl, bed, and litter tray. Another common practice is to ask for a deposit. This deposit is supposed to cover any damages done by your pet and is refundable if no damage is caused — so best to make sure you train your animal is well-trained before whisking them away.

If a hotel is the best accommodation choice for your trip, hotel corporations like Wyndham, Hilton, and Holiday Inn, and others, offer pet-friendly rooms in their suite-style hotels. The Holiday Inn Montgomery Airport South, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, the DoubleTree by Hilton, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel, and more can be found in most cities in Alabama and welcome animals. Generally, these suites only allow one pet per room but contact them directly when you make your reservation and ask about bringing more. Other similar options include the Baymont Inn & Suites Montgomery South, Drury Inn & Suites, Day Inn Suites, Motel 6, Towne Place Suites, Extended Stay, Quality Inn, the Alabama Hotel, Staybridge Suites, and Hotel Indigo Orange Beach. Most of these hotels have amenities like free WiFi, breakfast included, room cleaning service, pool, fitness center or gym, and a room big enough to accommodate you, your family, and your pet comfortably.

Other Valuable Options

Sometimes a hotel or suite might not be the best option for you, whether because of cost, practicality, comfort, or the privacy you prefer. If you have more than one pet or an uncommon pet, it might work out better for you to look at options like an apartment, an entire house, a cabin close to nature, or something that gives you more freedom and space for your pets.

By booking an entire apartment or house you might save some money, and your pet will feel at home — especially if you manage to find a place similar to your real home, which might include a backyard or patio or neighbors who also have pets and can offer assistance. Additionally, you’ll might have a host who can provide important information for your pet such as veterinary services nearby, pet stores in the area, regulations about leash/collar/vaccines/fines, pet groups in the area, parks to walk your furry traveler, and much more information than a hotel would know.

To find the option that works best for you, filter your results on AllTheRooms by clicking the ‘Amenities’ tab and selecting the ‘Pets OK’ option. This will enable you to evaluate pet-friendly options from a wide variety of providers and property types including hotels, B&Bs, campgrounds, motels, inns, suites, cabins, cottages, apartments, and much more.
