The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Denver

← Back to ‘Gastro Tourism: The Best Countries to Eat & Drink Around the World`

Located at exactly 5,280 feet, Denver has appropriately been nicknamed the Mile High City. The metropolis, set against a beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, boasts its fair share of excellent microbreweries and restaurants. Below, we’ve compiled a list of our personal favorites.

Best Neighborhood For Bar-Hopping Breweries/Bars

A relatively newly developed area, RiNo (the River North Arts District) has a brewery on what feels like every corner. Located just north of downtown Denver, RiNo is a concentrated area of breweries and creative businesses.

We’ve charted out a pretty cool adventure for you, and we recommend starting at the Denver Night Bazaar for some cool shopping and food options, making your way over to First Draft (where you’ll be able to serve yourself your own draft) and then hitting up the DaDa Art Bar (a comfortable hangout spot with a cool, rotating gallery of wall art).  We also recommend visiting 1Up (a fun, arcade-style bar).

Our Favourite Brewery

A family-owned and operated microbrewery, Avery Brewing Co takes the cake on our favorite spot in the area. You can take a tour of the space, which is located in nearby Boulder, or opt to just try out the tasting room or restaurant space. The brewery bottles more than 20 different beers each year, and we’re keen on Ellie’s Brown Ale, the Rumpkin and Tweak, among others.

Best Day-After-Drinking Brunch

If a night of drinking has you feeling a little less than enthused about facing your Saturday, brighten up and head over to the Denver Biscuit Company. You won’t be able to resist the cinnamon roll (share it with friends), and don’t pass up The Franklin. Your hungover self can thank us later.
