← Back to ‘The World’s Best Airbnbs’
You would be hard-pressed to find a more physically striking South American country than Bolivia. From its Amazon basin to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes to the mindblowing Salar de Uyuni salt flats to the Inca ruins on Isla del Sol on the mirror-like water of Lake Titicaca, Bolivia is an adventure guaranteed to fill up your phone’s photo roll. Naturally, explorers looking to see it all need places to rest and that’s where we come in. Here are a few of the top Airbnbs in Bolivia that we would pick as our adventure rest stops.
La Paz for the View
La Paz sits at about 12,000 feet which makes it the highest capital city in the world. All the way up there in those mountains means you’re bound to have some sweet views right? One look out of this two-bedroom apartment’s living room window will answer that. The view of the city and the surrounding peaks are gorgeous and it puts you in an excellent position to explore the city.
Lake Titicaca Quechua Home With (Another) View
Located on a hill overlooking Lake Titicaca, this house is owned by a Quechua (an Andean indigenous people) family that will serve as your host during your stay on the lake’s shore. The view is gorgeous, but the true gem is the home itself. We love the combination of the traditional thatched roof, the simple but elegant stone structure, and the finished wooden doors.
Rural Luxury Cabins on a Lake
People who prefer the beaten path don’t go to Bolivia and so we’ve picked out a spot that will help you really get away from it all. These comfortable cabins are located on a lake outside of Tarija. Despite being only 15 fifteen minutes from the city, the area feels extremely rural and guests can feel free to cook a meal or check out the stars from a dock on the lake in complete peace. Each cabin has two bedrooms and has room for up to four guests.
Rurrenabaque Rainforest Home
Rurrenabaque is a small town located near Madidi National Park and an excellent base camp for launching explorations into the park. This house is located in a quiet part of town right by the river and although we love the location, we love the house’s look even more. With two bedrooms and four beds, the house can fit up to five so bring the crew.
Downtown La Paz Penthouse
To wrap it up we want to include another La Paz high rise apartment with a view. This penthouse’s three bedrooms, terrace with a view (and grill) and kitchen table with an excellent view of La Paz grabs our attention. The neat interior and excellent location are strong bonuses as well. We recommend this spot as a place to begin or wrap up the Bolivia adventure. There’s something about a terrace with a great view of the city that hits the right note.
