Best Airbnbs in the World

Pretty lofty title, huh? Well, someone has to do it. The fact is, there’s a world out there full of luxurious, incredibly remote, creative and seemingly gravitationally impossible Airbnbs. We have one simple criterion: wow factor. By that we mean: which Airbnbs make us say wow and then stay put in our heads as a “bored at my desk I wonder if I could go across the world and stay there someday” type dream? Far from scientific, yes. Much closer to fantastical. With that, here are our picks of the best Airbnbs in the world.

A Glass Treehouse on the Brazilian Coast

Thick Brazilian jungle, views out over the ocean, and floor to ceiling windows through which you can take it all in. This is a dream Airbnb if we’ve ever encountered one. The sharp design, hardwood finishings, isolated rooms that seem to be suspended in the rainforest canopy, outdoor entertaining spaces that look out towards the water — it’s hard to pick what we love most. This house is located in Ubatuba which is about 200 miles east of Sao Paulo so you won’t have to worry about crowds.

Off the Grid in the California High Desert

Just over 100 miles east of Los Angeles in the high desert lies Joshua Tree National Park. Just outside Joshua Tree lies the small, aptly-named desert settlement of Pioneertown. And on the outskirts of Pioneertown lies a desert escape unlike any we’ve laid eyes on. When we think of the desert, we think of unobstructed sunsets and bright stars that don’t have to compete with city glow. You wouldn’t miss a bit of it with entirely glass walls, would you? Sounds perfect to us.

Santorini Master Suite

You can go around the world twice hunting for the most beautiful places on the planet and we bet you’ll end up planning a third lap just to go back to Santorini. The houses are the whitest white and the water is the bluest blue. Heavenly is the word that comes to mind. Taking it all in from this villa’s infinity pool sounds like something out of a dream.

Medellín Penthouse

Medellin has a special way of lighting up at night. It doesn’t have the towering skyline of other large cities, but there’s something about the way the lights crawl up both sides of the valley that makes it unforgettable. This penthouse looks out over it all.

Cabin on the Icelandic Planes

The Northern Lights are said to be one of the most beautiful natural sights in the world. We would be hard-pressed to imagine a better place to see them than this cabin. And if you’ve been looking for a chance to get away from it all, it doesn’t get much more isolated than here. Your only company will likely be the horses that roam the planes. So throw a log on the fire, cook a little dinner and wait for the sky to light up.

Private Island in the Philippines

The Philippines is a nation of more than 7,000 islands and one of them happens to be an Airbnb. Surrounded by turquoise water and reefs begging to be explored by way of the snorkel, this island is the kind of place to which groups of friends plan dream vacations but rarely follow through. Hop in a wooden boat and explore the surrounding islands, eat lunch under the palms, and finish off the day with some snorkeling or diving.

If he wasn't an AllTheRooms content writer, he would almost certainly be neck-deep in the Medellin reggaeton scene.
